Okay, so I’ve already posted here about the first time I saw Book of Mormon (in the West End), but I don’t think I’ve ever posted about the second time, on the 7 September 2018. At the actual show, there was so many little McPriceley moments (like the fact that they straight up made out during Spooky Mormon Hell Dream, and McKinley wInKeD at Price at the start of Tomorrow Is A Latter Day and the “was I in it?” was sO FLIRTY HOLY SHIT).
During the interval I ended up having a bit of banter with the guy who was working at the Merch stand (I’d already been there a few times, so I wasn’t too awkward). I joked about not properly being able to function and he kinda said “oh, don’t worry at all, I’ll probably be like that tomorrow, it’s a two show day”. And the guy at the bar was so nice when I went to get my drink (cause I was getting panicky about getting back to my seat in time). Overall, just all of the staff were so so nice.
I got out to stagedoor, and met my Mum and Dad there (I went to see the show alone). There was a group of about five girls there, who all knew each other (turned out to be prats) and another girl (who was so shitty that the conductor tweeted about how rude she was at stagedoor).
Lejaun Sheppard (Gotswana) came out, and no one went up to him bar me, but he was so nice and I got a few pictures with him (my Dad also snapped one where you can see everyone else ignoring him).
Nick Collier (Poptarts) came out next, and the group of girls all shoved in front of me to get to him. (NB: They were warned by one of their Mum’s not to go up to Nick again if he came out, which if they had been before and acted similarly, is completeny understandable). They all kinda screamed at him and accosted him to sign things, and he just looked so tired that I was kinda hesitant to even ask him for a picture, I felt so bad for him.
J. Michael Finley (Cunningham) came out, and he just went along everyone, signed things and took pictures, just a really nice guy.
When Richard Lloyd King (Mafala) came out, everyone ignored him, the same as Lejaun. I wasn’t near enough the stagedoor to get a photo without chasing him, so for obvious reasons, I didn’t.
When Stevie Webb (McKinley) came out a few people got him to sign things, and I managed to get our a few drawings that I had done for him. I said (with MUCH more stuttering) “Hi, so I kinda saw Book of Mormon before and I thought that you were absolutely phenomenal so I have some art here if you want it?” He immediately started thanking me and went through them all in front of me. One of them had his line from TIALD and he started singing it under his breath (I’ll admit, I died a little at that point). Another had my favourite poem on it, which he asked me about, before asking me name. And THEN (and this is a big and then), HE asked ME for a hug. I took a few pictures, and he gave me another hug, but he just looked so genuinely thankful and happy and it just made my heart so happy.
When Ross Carpenter (Church) came out, only one other person went up to him, but I got a picture and managed to stutter out that he was amazing.
I was right beside the stagedoor when Dom Simpson (Price) came out, so I got a picture with him before anyone else but hOLY SHIT MAN HE IS TALL.
Finally, Alex Lodge (First Cover Price) came out. Again, only one other person went up to him, but he was super super nice.
I had to go then cause my Mum wasn’t feeling well but what an experience, man.
TLDR: The current BOM West End cast is amazing and so kind, please respect them at stagedoor and appreciate them for the amazing work they do.
