This beautiful edition of Byronâs The Prisoner of Chillon was published in 1865 and illuminated by William and George Audsley, a pair of Scottish architects.  Each page features a full medieval-style chromolithograph complete with shining silver and gold accents. The Audsley brothers were especially known for their Gothic Revival style, so I suppose itâs only natural that they would produce such intricate, vivid borders.
Sometimes we like to pile our books up and take pictures of themâŠ. because itâs our job, and they are so pretty!
