Adam was fanning himself with the old magazine. Evening was so warm he didnât remember weather like that in Henrietta for a long time. It was so quiet, so peaceful at the Barns. There were almost no wind and he could hear cicadas playing their soon-to-come night music. Surprisingly Adam enjoyed it very much.
He drove back to the Barns after few weeks at collage. There were always many students, the city itself was bigger than Henrietta and coming back here was like going back to sanctuary. Exams were stressful as well, so when Ronan proposed the weekend without any studies it was so tempting that he had to come back to Ronan. He even left his books and notes in the dorms.
When he arrived, Opal was first to welcome him in front of the house. With smile, he run towards him and hugged him, still unaware how strong she was. He hugged her back with gentle smile. And then he looked up.
There he was. Ronan Lynch, standing on the porch, in jeans and dark top tank. This view made Adam happy. Really happy.
They greeted themselves with soft kiss. And that was all Opal let them do together because she wanted just as much attention as Ronan had. So they drove together to the mall for some small shopping and both were fighting the great urge to jump into shop trolley as they didnât want to give Opal bad examples that could hurt here. But they exchanged amused looks.
After shopping all three of them returned to Barns. In the kitchen they prepared dinner using some of the dreamed accessories Ronanâs dad brought back from his dreams. The microwave without any connection to electricity was one of Adamâs favourites.
They watched a movie, they went for a walk on the farm (Ronan was really proud of his strawberries he planted) and then Opal was so tired she actually fell asleep and Ronan had to put her on his back and carry to bed. And that was the evening time when Adam was on the porch, sitting and enjoying the sounds of the farm.
He heard the familiar steps accompanied with crackled sound of the wooden floor. Ronan entered the porch with a smirk on his face.
âEnjoying yourself, Parrish?â he asked observing how Adam was fanning himself with the magazine. âGossip magazine? Really?â
âShouldnât I ask that? It was in your kitchen.â
     âMust be Opalâsâ he answered.
He sat next to Adam on the wooden stairs and embraced Adam with his arm.
    âShe went asleep.â
âGoodâ said Adam âShe had a long day.â
âSoâ Ronan started. âWhat do you want to do today?â
    Adam took a deep breath.
    âChill.â
     Ronan snorted.
âJesus, Parrish. Chill? Is that a collage slang?â
âI mean it, Lynchâ he answered calmly. âI just want to⊠relax.â
Ronan became serious. He looked into Adam admiring his freckles, eyes, hair, skin⊠He was so beautiful Ronan often couldnât focus his thoughts. And he missed him so much.
âWait hereâ said Ronan and got up.
      âWhere are you going?â
      âJust donât move.â
Ronan disappeared in the house leaving Adam confused. He put aside the magazine and stood up. Then moved to the fence and leaned over it, looking into the forest. Memories came back like waterfall. He was here, kissing Ronan. Few months ago. How amazing it was. And still is.
He never thought that someone like Ronan Lynch would ever fall in love with him. With Adam Parrish with sleepy eyes, messy hair, harsh skin, skinny body. And then again he wouldnât suppose that he himself will feel something more to Ronan. After all⊠he never assumed he will be interested in boys.
But he was glad he actually did.
Ronan was back after few minutes. He brought some wooden box and Adam for a second thought they will again try to decipher some words from English to other languages. Before he asked, he noticed that it was an old radio.
Ronan placed it on the fence
âShould I be worried?â asked Adam.
     âWe will see.â
âOh, God. Itâs this Squash Song, isnât it?â Adam moaned with dissatisfaction.
âHave a little faith in me, Parris.â
Ronan tuned the radio and since it wasnât connected to anything and still worked, Adam assumed it was taken from his boyfriendâs dreams.
The melody from radio, a bit rusted, but surprisingly matching the surrounding, filled the stuffy air around them. The sun was setting when Adam leaned back to the fence on the other side of the porch.
Dream a little dream of meâŠ
âDance with meâ said Ronan and walked towards Adam.
âI wasnât suppose to moveâ he answered.
Ronan raised an eyebrow and offered his hand. Adam stared at it for a moment or two.
He placed his hand in Ronanâs and his boyfriend slowly guided him in the middle of the porch. Other hand land on Adamâs hip.
They danced slowly, moving a bit unsteadily at first, shy and surprised by their own actions. But after few tunes, they smiled. Ronanâs eyes sparkled.
They got closer to each other. They could feel each other breaths, heartbeats, warmth. Ronan was leading and he made Adam spin around for a moment. Adam chuckled and Ronan winked to him. Hips started to move more freely, when they were closer and closer. It wasnât a professional dance, but it was enough for both of them to have a good time.
âWhy the dancing, Ronan?â asked Adam, while spinning again.
Ronan needed whole songs chorus to spilt out the answer.
âBack then⊠Before, you know, everythingâ started Ronan with silent voice, so pleasant for Adamâs ears. âWhen I was younger, that was how my dad helped mom to⊠relax. She was always smiling when they danced. She forgot about her stresses and sadness.â
And there it was. Another secret from Ronanâs life. And he trusted Adam enough to tell him that.
âI thought⊠I would do the same for youâ said Ronan.
Dream a little dream of meâŠ
Adam kissed him. That was the only answer he could come up with. Ronan huffed a little and kissed Adam back. While still dancing, Ronan moved his hand towards Adamâs face and caressed his cheek.
âI love you, Ronanâ whispered Adam. âSo much.â
       âI love you too, Adam.â
Dream a little dream of meâŠ
They declared their love while dancing.
