Yeah your team hates you Jannik Sinner. Definitely. Like why would they have you ask your nation to volunteer for the Olympics and then last minute say you shouldn’t show face because of the temp changes between Milano & Doha?
If there was an optics management competition and this team was my opponent I would win in a landslide.
Some of their greatest hits now include:
Never beating the not Italian enough allegations by making the wrong choice at every fork in the “nationalism” road. This Olympics gimmick is just one more variant of it.
Your whole schtick has been “these are the hometown Olympics” & “let’s lift the nation” &”I’m a skier” and now you can’t fire up the PJ for a single night in Milano? Ah, but the PJ does fire up if there’s a photo op to be had with a politician. Hmm.
Skipping the Davis cup for rest and conditioning to show up unprepared at the AO. Just say it was a sponsored trip between hotels and tourism and F1 and Patrick’s academy and keep it moving. Just own you didn’t want to participate. That’s fine. The results of that conditioning speak for themselves. Now everyone is feeding into panic over a single loss. Which happens all the time in tennis.
Clostebol saga? Whole thing was a focus on winning in court and losing in the court of public opinion. Not once did they apply any standard crisis handling rules, such as letting him speak first of his own volition and owning the narrative.
Instead the story exploded after months, without an initial press conference where he could set the narrative. No. He sat for a regular slam press conference instead where a mediator attempted to limit questions on the topic to a single question and the rest of the silence allowed BS to fill the vacuum.
If you love Maria Sharapova so damn much look to her to see how to operate in this instance.
Obviously he could barely show face when he was number 1 and banned so that limited any opportunities to promote the sport.
By the time the ban was over they allowed him a single interview for Italian media. You’re dealing with the world number 1 at the time. An international press conference was the play and that exclusive interview was to be secondary.
Rehiring the coach that vicariously contaminated him over some idea of comfort—speaks for itself.
Now it’s some strange overreaction to a loss as if that didn’t happen to all the greats in the history of the sport. Absolutely hidden in person but visible in every endorsement and sponsorship heading into the Olympics. A shell. A business.
You can tell these are people out of their depths with this provincial style of image management. Abysmal.
Every single time the temperature in the room needed to be lowered they failed by adding to it. He’s free to do what he wants, but he’s destined to be a victim of “loyalty” just like Totti with people like this managing his career.
Everyone cries about Caso Nazionale but never takes the time to examine how much the management opens up the court for that to happen.
He’s there so they did ONE thing right in the course of his career, but letting bullshit press fill the void of silence in the lead-up to it (and in general) will always open him up to ridicule. It’s like the SOP to let the press fill the void and adding all this mystery when it’s either a simple yes or no.

As someone who is not jannik or carlos fans i don't understand why both of their fans cannot be normal for once , both jannik and carlos suffer from media time to time, let's not forget how everyone and their mother were acting after jcf split saying carlos would not win shit and some jannik fan were pretty much happy about that , let's not forget how jannik was treated during and after his ban , this is what happens when you are at the top y'all being so irritating people win some day and loose the other they are both good so just shut up ughhhhh your little fan wars are unbearable and to jannik fans he is not perfect y'all are used to him winning so much that if he doesn't it the end of the world
.
you guys sound like every woman who's devastated about their fave male celebrity dating a kardashian because they think the male celebrity is just too deep and intellectual for a kardashian and could only possibly lower himself to dating the likes of her if forced for PR. and you all need to get it in your heads that these men are not too deep or intellectual at all and these women you hate so much are not beneath them in any way.
This was literally me and I am proud I rid myself of that shit. Ain’t much to really thinkpiece about, they play sports, they act, and they’re as one-dimensional as the rest and appreciate a baddie, they’re not solving world hunger. That pedestal was too high.
Goodbye Jannik Sinner era. You were bigger than the whole sky to me but the spell broke. 🤧
The bar is in HELLLLLLLLL.
Well. See the difference.
(Jannik: „Thank you so much, Carlos.)
I DIDNT WANNA SAY IT BUT MY TEXT MESSAGES CAN TIMESTAMP THAT I CLOCKED THIS RIGHT AWAYYYYY

See how he’s the most secretive moodiest bitch on tour? Bageling for the love of the game all of a sudden.
If it hadn’t been for the monstrous serve stats all week today would’ve been less confusing for people, but he’s been in a mood the entire week. Nothing new.
Right? It almost feels like he’s leaning hard on his serve and then on his opponents' mistakes to break.
Not saying he’s not playing well, but then again he was visibly tired in Paris and still managed to fight through matches… I wonder if he’s just fatigue. Because tactically he’s there.
The serve hid the lack of baseline acuity throughout the week. He’s been playing mostly tactically all week anyway, which is admirable. But serves can be inconsistent—it’s why we make fun of servebots. Not saying he is one, but using Sinner & his serve saved him all week is not a sentence I thought I’d construct post USO.

I love being right. My mercury gauge for when players are off even when they just step on court…is unmatched😌
I fucking hate the WAG culture, which is so wrong in many aspects that I don’t even bother to dismantle it. It’s okay to show a long-term partner or spouse once or twice in match, but please don’t bring the WAG culture to another sports (alas too late, isn’t it?)
Not only is the ATP barebones as it stands, its only two stars are going to wag-ify the sport. Stick a fork in it that it’s done. I moved away from racing because there were more shots of wags than there are of overtakes—this will be more of the same.
