The moment he stepped out of the shower Hux found himself hoisted over Ren’s broad shoulder and carried away like livestock or luggage.  He flailed before his dignity caught up with him, but not before he’d earned a slap on the rump.  Ren hummed to himself as he slowly made his way to the bedroom, his face no doubt plastered with that obnoxious grin that made him look a braggart and a brat and made Hux’s heart flip over just the same.  Galling to me reminded that Ren could overpower him in an instant.  And instrumental to setting the mood.  Ren’s possessive streak always made for the most exciting foreplay…

My favorite part of this is how he is obviously flustered. He’s startled to see Hux, and unhappy that Hux can see /him/. The way he whips around and then whips back. The lowered gaze. The pout. But within about two seconds he squares his shoulders and picks his head up. You can almost see the conditioned response to distress. He squashes it down. Represses it. 

And it’s very practiced, very mechanical. If feels like the kind of thing he’s used to doing when he’s upset- shoulders back, eyes up, neutral expression, but you can still see in the line of his mouth that he’s unhappy. 

It reminds me of a kid I know. This is probably reaching, but… I know a little girl with really strict (borderline abusive) parents, and that’s EXACTLY the same face I see when she’s upset and her mother says ‘suck in that lip or I’ll give you something to be upset about’. It’s the response of someone who has been taught not to show unwanted emotions.

I’d really like to know who taught Kylo that.
