ITS FINALLY DONE!!!

It tok me nearly 3 whole days .....yea maybe i AM the world's slowest artist OH WELL!

I was inspired by @shmurg's absolutely amazing SRMTHFG art, and wanted to also draw my childhood hyperfixation.. and.... ya know.... outfits, 'cause i like designing outfits...

Basically we got "Normal" "Casual" "Work" (or just space exploration)

Please give lots of love to the post that inspired me! The headcanons are SOOOOO GOOOOOD! -----> ❤

Headcanon time!

As yall can see, i made a height chart. Antauri is the tallest, followed by Nova and Gibson, then Sprx and Otto are pretty much the same height, maybe Otto is one cm taller than Sprx.

Gibson was originally similar in height to Otto and Sprx maybe about 2-3 cm taller than Otto, but after he was infected with "Thingy's" virus, once he went back to his usual self, he had grown quite a bit, becoming more similar in height to Antauri and Nova.

Space suits!

After the resurrection of Skeleton King, space became far more dangerous for all of them, in worry for the teams safety, Otto ended up designing new suits for everyone

For better long range communication Otto and Gibson worked together to create Chiro and Jinmay their own helmets

Each helmet now has a retracteable visor on it, both to combat the brightness of the stars, and help with quick data collection (Gibson's idea) Tank drivers have Circular gems on their helmets, Pilots have Triangle gems, whilest Jinmay who does not pilot the Robot has a square gem.

There are little added "flair" to everyone's suits though, to make it their own

Sprx wears pilot gloves, his suit is naturally thicker in fabrick, as Otto noticed he shivers a lot more as of late

Nova wears an armband, wich she sometimes wraps around her head, to cover the crack on her helmet

While Antauri didn't specifically put anything extra on to his suit, Gibson and Otto made the suit colors reversed for him

Otto of course has a utility belt with his trusted tools in it, and spare parts and extra gadgets in his pouches, just in case someone gets injured he can quickly step in to help

Gibson also wears a utility belt, however his has his trusty tracker on it, and in his bag he has many instruments for collecting samples, and for research purpouses. Along with having a wristband that allows him to write up his thoughts on the fly, but also to strenghten the power of his communicator in case they are stuck in a place where the connection is awful.

I may be known for wanting starscream pregnant but i have a much bigger brained mech suggestion.

This is Antauri from Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!

He is Second in Command of the Hyperforce, and is the primary mentor to Chiro in the ways of the Power Primate, a Star Wars Force-like power.

Throughout the show, he acts as one of 5 adoptive parents of Chiro. This isn't fandom headcanon, it's a dynamic present in all 4 seasons of the show, even joked about in the somewhat cringe-worthy episode "Girl Trouble"

(Chiro's parents are... "alive", according to shows creator, Ciro Nieli)

Now, if you start watching SRMTHFG at my suggestion, you might notice two things

Holy shit is this Transformers: Animated? (Lots of the same team)

Hang on, Antauri is just a cybernetically enhanced monkey like the rest of the team.

Unfortunately, I must give spoilers for a 21 year old show. He does not remain organic.

There was a Prophecy. The Dark Ones' chosen would gather the pieces required to awaken the infant emissary of destruction from the core of planet Shuggazoom.

Chiro, chosen one of the the Power Primate... would sacrifice himself to seal this beast away and save countless planets from ruin.

Antauri could not let this happen.

The second most powerful user of the Power Primate, the only one with a chance to do what Chiro is destined to die for... and already mortally wounded, he gathers his strength... and sacrifices himself instead.

As it turns out, he would be sacrificing the lives and well-being of many planets in order to save Chiro, as The Worm was only weakened.

After Chiro goes Apeshit over his death (literally), he finds The Silver Monkey, an abandoned project by the monkeys' creator and brings Antauri back.

in seasons 3+4 Antauri adjusts well to being entirely mechanical, despite several hiccups (Shout out to VX 8.0.8. for traumatizing Everyone!)

He remains a fiercely protective father figure to Chiro until the cliffhanger end of the show.

Anyway I've always wanted him pregnant. I think he deserves to contain life within him, even though he is the furthest from life he has ever been. He deserves to help his dying species prosper, despite no longer being apart of that species.

AND i think he would refuse most help with symptoms until he is unable to handle them which is the best part of sickfics in general.

Put him in!

Mod Spike and I discussed whether the fact that Antauri used to not be a mech would disqualify him, but we decided that as long as he's spent a significant amount of screentime as a mech, he can play. Two seasons are a significant amount of screentime, so let him play!

Growing up is, me realising that Otto was very autism creature, 'cause what'cu mean that he spent an afternoon building 3 moon buggies, just for the fun of it? (me when the tism hits)

Also the fact that, the only one that's ever getting away with anything on that ship in Gibson's presence is Otto. Favoritism at its finest. (Gibson you fake idgaf-er)

blind box BJD elitism is so dumb. "not real art" my ass. if your doll has that elastic limb system it's a BJD, mass-produced or not. it's like saying Barbies aren't art because they're sold in department stores and not out of somebody's basement.

you wanna criticize the consumerism or the gambling element of blind boxes, go right ahead. the art argument just makes you a gatekeeping snob.

I think westerners' with rather harsh attitude toward blind box bjd aren't aware that most of them are from indie studios and artists and were made by crowdfunding with inputs and feedbacks from customers during the process. Big brands like Penny's Box and Come4Free exist but it doesn't change the fact that the majority of them are small, newly established brands, a lot of them couldn't even complete their bjd project because of the lack of funding. Also, for smaller brands, the dolls will be made in smaller batches and often will be discontinued after a year or so.

The blind box format, beside being popular in Asia, is also used to ensured that all dolls will be sold equally and you often can buy confirmed box of the dolls you want by buying in group orders or from retailers or the secondhand market. People only buy blind boxes when they don't mind getting any of the designs and even if they ended up with a design they didn't like, they will either sell or trade it or customize it. I've also seen a lot of westerners assuming that people buying blind box dolls won't be customizing them but that is not true at all, most people will custom or restyle the dolls they bought, in fact I rarely seen anyone keeping the dolls in their original styles. Brands also very much encourage their buyers to customize their dolls by giving spare parts as preorder freebies or selling them if you missed the preorder period, sometimes they even release 3d print files of their doll parts for free.

Just because the dolls are more affordable and sold in a format you don't like or not familiar with how it works doesn't mean they are "landfills" or "slop". I actually haven't seen anyone in the Asian bjd/doll community hating on blind box bjd for not being "real bjd" at all and was very surprised to learned that a lot of westerners hate them for being cheaper alternatives.

I just got to the passage where Bren is woolgathering about his secret dream of being the first Mospheiran in space, about how he wants to get up there before he's too old to do so. Which I kind of chuckled at, because Illsidi. Which led me to think about Bren getting to be her age... and the inevitably that follows.

Because that's going to be one hell of a funeral. This is the man that brought peace to so many species and factions therein. Peace to two, maybe even three or more worlds. It'll be a historic occasion. Everything will be shut down for that funeral. And then there's those passages in Defiance that hint at Unit Senoirs either dying immediately after their principal draws their last breath or going irreversibly insane, and I'm back to the picture of a crypt flickering with candlelight, clogged with the smell of so many flowers, and two bodies to bury.

This first book takes so long to reread because a single sentence has so much meaning in context to the other twenty volumes. I'm literally this meme:

A friend made a joke before that the Bujavid is gonna have an alarm hooked up to Bren's vitals once he gets old enough for his death to be an active concern, bc they took "go insane" to potentially include "basically going rabid" and decided someone would have to move fast and Ol' Yeller Banichi if he turned violent

You are absolutely right, too, Bren would probably end up getting a funeral to rival an aiji's, especially if Tabini were still alive to nake sure it happened. Actually, maybe even moreso if it were Cajeiri in charge, bc that's Nand'Bren, he should have a fancy send off. There'd be a brief reactionary period afterward where anyone trying to move an agenda forward that Bren, specifically, was blocking, or god forbid directly speaking ill of the dead, would immediately have half the government and a few citizens filing Intent on them

The earlier books are incredible on a reread, bc not even Bren knows half of whats going on, but context from later in the series will make you stop every couple chapters and go "OH"

(Also, very much a work in progress, but this is a playlist that got its start bc I thought too much about Bren dying)

If I had a nickel for everytime Banichi was compared to Old Yeller since Defiance I could probably by a quarter pounder meal 😂 I am constantly thinking of it during rereads.

I love Call the Nightingale! It's such a beautiful, haunting song with a soft melody. Definitely fits for Bren's funeral playlist. Which now has me wondering if there'd be music... this series is a trap. Just when you think you can put the books down for a second, they drag you back in.

Being but a humble lesbian myself, I am always looking for a way to add women to a media that I like, so here goes. (Please note I haven’t read beyond The Royal Ranger and that was many years ago, so I have only the foggiest idea of how women get incorporated into the corps in canon).

General Conceit

In a couple of the books, it’s mentioned how Lady Pauline and Alyss are able to use the way people underestimate them to their advantage in Courier work, so I imagine that would be a compelling reason as to why the elite intelligence force of Rangers would be made up of women. People often suppose Rangers to be practitioners of “dark magic” so boom, if they’re women, people think they’re witches and steer clear of them.

Characters

Will’s full name is Wilhelmina, but she goes by Will anyway. I picture her with a kind of shaggy haircut that ends a little below her chin, and a fringe that she’s always brushing out of her eyes. I mean can you imagine how precious baby butch Will would be!!!

Horatia was born in a village some distance from Castle Redmont, but after being orphaned as a young teenager, she disguised herself as a boy under the name Horace and traveled to Castle Redmont to attend Battleschool there.

Gilan is now Gilda, the only child of her father. Though Sir David was disappointed that he couldn’t have a son, he resolved that at least any child of his should train with a sword. It certainly caused a stir, but Sir David’s status meant that Gilda was able to train as a warrior despite others’ disapproval. It was a huge relief to her when she joined the Rangers and she wasn’t the only woman around anymore.

Crowley is still addressed as Crowley, but that’s actually her surname in this ’verse. To do a little switcheroo on the name Crowley Meratyn, her given name is Meralda, which she never liked. I see her as more on the femme side.

I always thought it was weird that in canon Halt didn’t change his name when he escaped to Araluen. Like, how many young Hibernian men named Halt were running around in Araluen soon after the crown prince Halt vanished from Clomnel? The average Araluen layperson might not have known his name, but surely the Rangers and Barons must have been at least a little politically cognizant of Hibernia, so how come no one suspected anything?? So I’m amending that here by having the ‘prince’ Halt take advantage of her exile to transition and start using the name Hester. Join my transfemme!Halt agenda!
