◜⠀ 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐍⠀⠀⠀ —⠀⠀ ،،̲   i had a sudden wave of emotion and i NEEDED to write this down.  below is a complete meta discussing ANDREA JONES and CORALINE JONES   -   how they are each others ying and yang and how coraline is a better version of her mother .   if possible i’d encourage everyone to read this because it is very important to coraline and her whole person  !  

coraline is her mother’s daughter  ⸝   through and through   -   now  ⸝   we can discuss all the ways that this is a bad thing if it goes too far  ⸝   however  ⸝   we’re going to talk about how this is the best thing i’ve ever realized  -  because ultimately  ⸝   coraline is a BETTER VERSION of andrea  -   here are some traits that they have in common  :   work orientated  ⸝   self reliant  ⸝   cunning  ⸝   ambitious  ⸝   intelligent    ⸝  determined  ⸝   meticulous  .   just to name a few  ⸝   there are more but these are at the core of who andrea and coraline are  .   they each have extraordinary minds  ⸝   however the problem with andrea is that these traits have never been put in check   -   they’ve never been talked about  ⸝   and ultimately they tipped drastically and it’s these traits that make her a bad person   -   she’s willing to stab anyone and everyone in the back to achieve her own means  ⸝   the fire has never touched her and because of that she perceives herself as being immune to the flames .    

coraline on the other hand was humbled very early on in life  ⸝  yes these traits absolutely manifested in toxic waste ways when she was a teenager  ⸝  but she learned that it isn’t who she wants to be .   she took this traits  ⸝  learned and EVOLVED WITH THEM  .  she uses these to achieve her own ends but she knows who to direct her anger towards  ⸝   knows who the target is rather than taking the whole ship down .  what makes coraline better and in a way  ⸝   MUCH MORE LETHAL  ⸝   is that she knows where to aim to finish the job  ⸝  rendering her far more resourceful than her mother   .   

another thing that makes them so different is that coraline values people  ⸝  people are more than consumers and partners  ⸝  they what make the world go around and without them people like them would have nothing .   andrea doesn’t care  ⸝  sees people less than herself .  coraline goes out of her way to make sure everyone is treated equally and makes sure that they’re respected in all aspects of life .  what made the jones dynasty empire fall is their disregard for human life  ⸝  it was the enemies along the way that coraline befriended that managed to take them down  .  absolutely  ⸝  when being asked about her business and growing success she shouts out everyone who helped her along the way  .   andrea treats people as stepping stones  ⸝  coraline does not because she knows what its like to feel like one .  

last but not least  ⸝  another way coraline is better than andrea is that she doesn’t care .  coraline knows that wealth can be fleeting  ⸝  she’s been homeless and scrapped for cash and she knows if anything happened she’d survive  .  living without money and without the eyes of others is what she’s used to  ( and in a way  ⸝   is more comfortable with that  )     ⸝  andrea  ⸝  while not caring about people  ⸝   cares more about her status in the public eye  .   it’s her desire to keep being that star that becomes her ultimate downfall  .  and while not caring can be a crippling problem  (  as explored through different verses here  ⸝  as well as in early canon )    -  it’s also the best part of who coraline is  ⸝  it’s not caring about other peoples that makes her so attached to her own morality .  she stands by whats right  ⸝  she doesn’t care if people are uncomfortable by her stances .  as an immortal person  ⸝  coraline has to live with herself for forever  .   while these traits make andrea vulnerable  ⸝  they make coraline stronger  .   it’s very easy that when mad at coraline to compare her to andrea because on the surface they look the same  ⸝  but it’s not the same and even though it STINGS when coraline hears this comparison  ⸝  deep down she knows it isn’t true and the fear is the trauma that clings to her from childhood  .

fucking god i can’t form a coherent thought, but coraline getting in trouble with feminist movements and getting into controversy for being very vocal about men rights drives me insane. you know she’s experienced sexism, misogyny and classism when changing careers from sex worker to ceo  -  there would absolutely be a stigma surrounding coraline as being a liability and being dismissed in terms of intelligence because of her past work  -  the respect and privilege that coraline has in further canon is something she worked her arse off to gain and maintain, it didn’t come naturally, didn’t come easy - she probably put herself in a near grave to force the world to see her as what she is, a boss.  not even to mention the abusive relationship(s) in her past that have been predominantly men. the thought of a movement that is meant to protect women like coraline, coming out and dismissing her view points would further push her away from modern day feminism and just make her dig her heels into the ground and say “there is no feminism if there are no men rights?” and overall it just makes me thrive that coraline does everything she can to be a better person

pirate!coraline being a captain that looks after her crew and it breeds immense loyalty,  just someone that really really looks out for her own but isn’t someone to be trifled with because she’s known for being brutal, y’know, comes with the territory.  plays stupid a lot but is very educated, takes pride in being called a whore and a witch and completely embraces the terms - i feel like she’d be a comical shit,  animated and the usual cora sass - idk man im just feeling a lot with this verse but i have NO IDEA how to start writing the verse out

This wasn't how he thought this night would go, but some part of him blamed himself for the portal gun fluid that dripped on the floor that allowed for it to happen.        all she wanted was a quiet night .  but it appears that really was too much to ask .  the bar had seemed so promising at first,   luring her into that false sense of security,   should’ve known it wouldn’t last long  -    the faint buzz of the customers had brought a sense of comfort,   offered a way to get lost and stray a little away from existence .   there was nothing better than people watching paired with an endless pit of alcohol at fingertips .   

      even with the screams and yells from the customers with the snakes appearing,  she was unsure if it were down to the usual hallucinations or if it was happening for real,   coraline took a moment to thank crimson for the disconnect with reality .  the slight distant feeling that took over resulted in not running to the door,    getting left behind with the man next to her as a result .  admittedly,  there was a sense of relief once the other spoke .     she finishes off the shot on the bar top,    ❛   unfuckingbe -   ❜   murmur is interrupted as she stands on feet,  noticing the snake darting towards her .  a noise is made in the back of throat,   annoyance and a whine at the realization that this was actually something she had to deal with .       with a firm swing of her foot,  she sends a snake spiraling across the room to hit it against one of the table corners,  subconsciously reaching behind her to grab a discarded beer bottle as a make shift weapon   ❛  - lievable .   considering you know what these things are,  i’m blaming you for ruining my night .   ❜

new headcanon drop. in the later canon cora ends up owning a rose field -  there a large selection of different types being grown, but mostly she does try and focus her efforts on red roses  -   they are a luxury item when it comes to selling and comes to around 90 dollars a piece, depending on the type being sold / the amount of roses that is - the intention for it wasn’t to make profit and was originally done in honor of eletta, her grandmother and it was her favorite flower.  i can imagine that she’ll also make it so people can visit, purely because she knows that her grandmother would adore the sense of community that comes from it, so there is a way around it if you want to buy some but unless you’re apart of a school or community, you’re missing out on the discounts and forced to fend for yourself SDFIHDSOIHSDF

one of coraline’s core moments is that in the mist of getting healthy and over coming her addictions   -   she realized she no longer needed to use tape around her fingers to keep her rings in place because of the weight gain  .    them just fitting perfectly one day was a huge wake up call and it continues to be the driving force of not losing herself to addiction again   .    it truly is the little things in life ok    !
