Story
Beats:
-Ayla, a moody teen who recently turned 15. She is sitting on a bus, her bag in the seat beside her, another at her foot. Her chin in her hand as she stares moodily out the window.
-The bus comes to a screeching halt and the other few passengers disembark. She follows the last off the bus struggling with her large bags.
-She looks around searching for someone.
-Arthur, a graying 40 something, a moody adult and Alya’s dad. Waves her over, leaning on a rusty two door pick up truck.
-She walks up to him, an awkward pause before he grabs her bags and slings them in to the back up the pickup truck.
-Truck door slams, and there is a long awkward car ride. The pair sitting as far away from each other as the can on opposite sides of the cab, there is no music playing as the Ayla, again stares angsty out the window.
-The front door opens, and Arthur throws both of her bags on the ground near the door, she walks in to the sad looking living room and observes the emptiness of it before turning to look at her dad.
-He’s got to go, work to do, theres pizza money on the table. She protests but he leaves without saying much else, leaving Alya frustrated.
-She explores the cabin, first the fridge, which is mostly condiment bottles, bear, and molding takeout food.
-Next she finds her room. A single air mattress sits in the corner with a pillow and a flannel blanket hastily thrown on it. On the walls are decorations left behind from when she was a child but the room is mostly baren otherwise.
-Next door across the hall from her room is locked. She pulls a penny out of her pocket and uses it to turn the lock.
-She pushes the door open and discovers her fathers study, the shelves are filled with strange objects, there are cabinets on the wall displaying strange taxidermy and weapons.
-Alya explores the book shelves and finds picture of father and grandfather Infront of some beast with cross bows in hand. the beast is dead and neither man looks happy. Her father looks her age now.
- The next photo she picks up is of her and her parents, from when they visited the zoo when she was very little. Her hair is in pigtails and her fathers arms disappears off the side, where the half of the photo had been ripped away, removing her mothers from the picture.
-Alya jumps when she hears keys jingle and her father come in through the front door. She hides under the large wooden desk.
-Arthur only pauses a moment when he notices the door is unlocked but proceeds in to the room anyways.
-She watches him, only his legs visible as he moves about the room. Calling out to her that he is only coming back in because he forgot something. She can hear rattling as a cabinet is opened and then closed.
-Just as quickly as he returned he is gone again.
- She runs out after him, and after his truck down the long dirt road that leads to his house, but quickly looses the truck.
- Now lost the girl walks down the road in the direction her father was heading, kicking a rock she pulls her headphones over her ears to listen to music, and takes a deep breath to calm down.
- Red eyes stalk her from the forest, and she shivers, sensing that she’s being watched.
- The music covers the sounds of the beast until it is almost upon her.
-She jerks around quickly, and dodges the beast and running in to the woods away from the road.
- She runs quickly but is no match for the beast, a giant hulking wolf, who quickly corners her against a rocky cliff.
-She puts her hands up to defend herself, but beast does not attack. Instead it lowers it’s head and places it’s forehead against her palm
She hesitantly pets the beast, feeling it’s soft fur and running her hand down it’s back, this is how she notices the cross bow bolt that is sticking out of it’s side.
-The beast whimpers when her hand is near and gives her a pitiful look with eyes that look too human.
-She touches the bow in the beasts back and it whimpers louder. She then grasps it in both hands and pulls hard.
-The beast out of fear whips it’s head back with a flash of teeth.
-before the girl really registers what happens the monster is down, a new bolt replacing the other one between it’s ribs
-Dad behind it, with cross bow in hand. looking solemn
-Father and daughter share a tense moment, standing across the clearing in the trees from one another, the fathers eyes focused on the bite more on the daughters arm she hasn’t even noticed yet.
-He shakes his head and leaves without saying a word.
-She watches him go and looks down at the dead beast.

Plot: A young girl in her early teens is sitting on an old buss seat. Her arms crossed as she frowns at her reflection in the window. The bus comes to a stop it’s old breaks screeching and she grabs her hefty bag and gets up to leave. Outside of the bus she looks around and sees her father. He looks incredibly similar to her, but is unshaven and rough looking. She walks towards him, he takes her bag and leads her to his truck. They sit in awkward silence as he drives and she again stares out the window as the small town that passes by. They reach his home, a messy cabin and he throws her bag on to the couch. “I have to go, there's money for pizza on the counter if I don’t make it back for dinner.” The girl shocked. “I just got here!” I’ve got work.” With that he turns and slams the floor. The girl huffs and looks around, exploring the house. First the empty fridge and then the main bedroom. She tries to open the door to the only other room in the house and finds it locked. She huffs, and pulls out a coin from her pocket and uses it to unlock the door. She enters and sees the room is heavily decorated with occult material. She looks around some more, and sees a photo of her father as a boy with her grandfather, they both stand Infront of a monstrous beast with cross bows. She frowns and looks at the frame next to it, which has been laid face down. She picks it up and sees that it is a picture of her father, herself (when she was much much younger) and what was her mother before the picture was folded to crop her out and placed back in to the frame. She is startled when she hears the front door open again. She hides underneath the desk when her father comes back inside. “Just forgot something, I’ll be back later.” He grabs something from on top of the desk and leaves. She waits for a moment and follows after him but quickly looses him in the unfamiliar city. She suddenly hears a growl come from behind her, and she runs from the creature. It chases her in to an alley way where she is cornered. She throws out her hands to protect herself, but the creature instead rubs its head against her palm and whimpers. She sees it has a cross bow bolt in it’s shoulder. She grabs it and pulls it out, the creature growls and snaps in pain, but before it can bite her, it yelps and drops dead. Behind the creature is the dad with the cross bow bolt. He looks down at her, and they share a tense moment, before he turns and walks away in silence. She stares after him, and then looks down at the beast.
