One of the most interesting facts to me is that people who don't like RanKane or prefer to see Ranma with another one of his fiancées have almost always only watched the og anime and never once opened the manga. Crazy trend, right?

I'm literally giggling over how many fans Akane has. Like, she's so peak — basically everyone loves her. But yeah, I'm def not the exception. I'm obsessed with her

I like to think that outside of what we're shown in the manga, Akane and Ranma are actually really close physically — like, even on an unconscious level. And the Love Cave arc shows it perfectly.

Everyone just needs to give these two some personal space, and they'd literally start dating the next day. Anyway, notice this — even when Akane clearly wasn't scared, they still held hands. Oh, and they look super natural about it… Just compare how they do it the first time vs. here.

Also, the only reason they're not even embarrassed is literally because no one's paying attention. Which just proves that if people left my babies alone, they'd actually be way closer … 🥹 I mean, that's kinda obvious, isn't it?

Anyway, back to the Love Cave arc — there's this moment.

Imo, it's just adorable. Especially if you look at how Ranma touches Ukyo vs. Akane. When Akane gets scared and grabs him, instead of just letting her walk around like that (like she does with Ryoga, or like he does with Ukyo) — he actually takes her hand. And that, to me, shows feelings WAY more. Why? Because it's a much stronger emotional gesture. You have to CHOOSE to hold her hand. You have to interlace your fingers yourself. In the other situation, everything is done for you — you're not putting in any effort.

But hey, since we're talking about their other cute moments — here's what I found.

need people to understand when i say ranma is obsessed with akane, i mean, he was raised in a way where his obsessions kept him alive (martial arts, food) & when he meets akane, even if he’s trying to keep his distance, he knows he’s devoted to her like he is to his obsessions

he was raised to fight for everything he got (food) & made to realize he really doesn’t have limitations bc if you do, you’re killed (nekoken) .. you think his brain is in any way normal and sees others like a teen horny boy would ? lmaoo like how??

he’s obsessive in his art and in his love for food .. then when he meets akane, he’s obsessed with her too .. constantly teasing, constantly trying to put distance yet never letting her out of his sight, constantly coming between her and anyone else who wants her attention

his nekoken is evidence of his obsession with her .. the only one he feels safe and happy with to the point where he offers physical affection is akane because in his brain, she’s the center of attention at all times .. so much so, that his other obsessions start to revolve around her

that’s what makes ranma’s arc so great bc he’s not written like a ‘normal teen horny guy’, he’s written as a monster in the making who happened to find someone who slapped some sense into him and he couldn’t get enough of her for it lol

in the manga, we see how he gets obsessive about martial arts, especially when he loses, but once he wins, how annoyingly egotistical he is for a second before he’s back to his next moment .. but when akane is involved, there is nothing that matters more to him than her

he was going to walk away from a fight & stay locked in his female form bc the akane in his mind was sad.. he was going to step aside & leave everyone behind bc he thought she fell in love with someone else .. he chased down a piece of paper because he didn’t want to risk not being with her

he was about to let himself be killed the moment he saw akane disappear because he lost all his will to live .. he destroyed a mountain & made water flow up for her .. he forgot about a ‘cure’ because his mind was simply filled with thoughts of akane’s smile

people need to realize ranma’s story with akane is truly a love story where a messed up boy met a messed up (in her own way) girl & they learned to take care of each other how they wished others would take care of them .. in no way is he just a ‘teen boy’ lol

sorry for the rant but that phrase keeps popping up in stories but ranma really isn’t ‘normal’ in anything .. why would he be ‘normal’ in being in love .. he’s obsessed with akane and you know he will be for the rest of their lives together because she became his reason for it all

Honestly, it's so cute that he doesn't even care how close they are right now — though tbh I don't think he even notices, considering how these idiots can almost never stop themselves from standing super close

Ranma calls Shampoo cute, but then immediately switches to thinking about Akane — "I wish Akane was up-front Shampoo is." Isn't that super telling? Like, even if Ranma finds some girl cute, it still circles back to Akane. And btw the story always just intentionally puts her in the frame to remind us who ACTUALLY owns his heart.

Oh, and also: later on, when Ranma has moments where he genuinely COULD find Shampoo cute again — he just… doesn't. Nothing like that even crosses his mind.

Ranma looks confused in both moments, ngl. But notice the difference in how he acts afterward! If he actually thought Shampoo was cute, he wouldn't pull away from her. He wouldn't play with her heart like that. 'Cause why would you act that way toward someone you're actually into???

Anyway, something else that really matters to me is the difference in the way things are drawn (the blushing, but also the poses — tho a lot of people already talked about that) in the seconds when Shampoo leans toward Ranma versus when Akane does it. What do I mean? When Shampoo does it — in Ranma's eyes, it's whatever. It's drawn like usual. But when it's Akane? Completely different. It looks way more magical, like it's on a whole other level.

I really love how he’s still sulking about it even a couple hours later. Like yeah, I’d probably keep thinking about something like that too, but ngl, he’s taking it way too personally, no? Bro, you literally just met this girl today.

I think this kinda shows how fast he got attached to her … You can really see it when you watch their sparring matches.

He looks so satisfied and happy there. And I’m pretty sure he was already falling for her at that point. Why else would he care so much later on about her just not wanting to be friends anymore? I’m saying this because Ranma clearly acts differently when other people don’t want anything to do with him. Good examples, imo, are Ryoga and Ukyo.

Ranma couldn’t care less about how aggressive they act toward him. Yeah, maybe it’s because they’re dudes (in Ukyo’s case, he just thinks she’s a guy), so that kind of energy is probably normal to him. But even then, I genuinely think that even if it was a girl he’d known for as long as he’s known Akane, he still wouldn’t obsess over it as MUCH as he does with Akane.
