Mercedes wasn’t really huge on celebrating her own birthday, but when it came to Joe, she was always going to make it a day he remembered, so he’d always know how much she loved him. She found herself laughing every time Joe kissed her, and after about ten, she quickly moved away from him. “Okay, wait, we need to do this whole kissing thing in intervals! She took on two jobs to try to support us, but still it wasn’t enough to stop us from having to move from apartment to apartment. It wasn’t until I was in high school where she finally found this steady gig to finally get us a house. It was pretty small, but it was cool to finally have something of ours you know. I think that’s why I work as hard as I do, because I want to make my Moms proud.” He thought about what he told her and shook his head. “I have never told a single person that.” He said, flashing a hint of a smile as he found himself locking eyes with Mercedes again.

It was crazy to Mercedes how much she and Vin had in common, but what was even more crazy was how comfortable they both felt talking to one another, and revealing things that most people didn’t know about them. “Well, I’m happy you feel comfortable enough talking to me about things like that, and you can talk to me about anything, anytime.
