My bestie KailelleXD on Twitter (and Twitch) experienced racism yesterday and I wanted to share some things he had to say about it. My friend is Asian American, he IS American. People need to stop acting like Asian Americans and Asians in general aren't being targeted for racism, because they are. In media and real life, they're depicted as nasty and harmful stereotypes instead of people. It needs to stop. It's 2022 for goodness sake, this kind of stuff shouldn't still be happening and it is, and I can only hope that tomorrow will be kinder towards my friends who face this sort of treatment.

I just went through my homework and I’m very tired. Still, I can’t wait to become a history teacher and teach students about actual history. I just hope I can get my hands on history books that weren’t written by delusional people. Actual history gets easily erased when people don’t agree with you, wipe out the small and / or important details, then release their version of history. Aka one of the reasons you don’t see a lot of detailed information about the Civil Rights movement or the Civil War, but you see loads of stuff based on literally anything else (but washed in the viewpoint of the nation / region you reside in).

I actually had to look up information outside of class about the man who killed John Wilkes Booth. Boston Corbett was a pretty interesting person, to say the least. Every textbook I read in school mentioned /nothing/ about him. Not his name, nor any details about his life. This man (highly religious, and possibly dealt with mental illnesses) literally c*strated himself when women ogled him and didn’t go to the hospital until after his prayers, dinner, and a /casual stroll/. Not to mention, the man completely dipped off the face of the earth when he escaped a mental asylum, stole a horse, left a note with the horse (detailing the real owner so it could be returned) and went to a train station. I learned all of this from online sources and journals because the school textbooks didn’t deem anything about this man important whatsoever, and I wanted to write about the man who shot the assassin of Abraham Lincoln. My own history teacher didn’t even know who Corbett was, and he was shocked to find out how much they left out in the textbooks. tl;dr, I hate history textbooks and fully plan on teaching my future students the most accurate versions of history that I can possibly find, because it’s important to learn from the past in order to not make the same mistakes in history again.
