I hate it when the banana is beautiful but when you open it it has brown marks, so I feel betrayed but it's too late since I already dedicated too much time and money on that banana and it's an accurate metaphor of human society

As a french guy, I really don't get this "AAVE" thing. How could you be told not to say a word that isn't even offensive for any racial community ? Like, black people use a word so it's forbidden to anyone else ? I don't get it. Love your blog btw :)
okay so I was in doctor’s appointments and physical therapy when all this went down initially but here’s the deal:
In America (and lots of other parts of the world in fact, France is no stranger to racism) the tension between races is palpable most of the time. For many years African American Vernacular English has been demeaned and diminished. Using words from AAVE when you are not part of that ethnic group can be seen as cultural appropriation. As those same words, when said by members of that oppressed group, are often seen as less intelligent or refined.
Which is bullshit for the record. Every dialect and region has it’s own set of slang or system of descriptors that are unique to those areas or cultures. For example some people call carbonated beverages soda, pop, soda pop, cold drink or coke. All depends on where you grew up and learned the language. Doesn’t make you somehow less intelligent or classy to say “coke” over “soda.”
Same with AAVE. It’s a dialect unique to a group of people.
Co-opting that when I wouldn’t experience the same kind of prejudice or recrimination for using the very same words is super not cool of me.
I don’t want that. I want to be an ally. I can’t be a good ally if I’m appropriating things from a culture that isn’t mine and not experiencing the same kind of oppression for doing so.
Okay, so what about the “it’s not even offensive” bit, yeah? Here’s the thing. That’s their word. Not mine.
For example, Day of the Dead make up is not naturally offensive to anyone, right? It’s just a celebration of time of year we celebrate our dead and honor their memories so they can live on. That’s super cool. I love Day of the Dead.
But I can tell you right now if I see a white girl wearing Day of the Dead make up on Halloween or referring to Day of the Dead as “Mexican Halloween” I will be HUGELY offended. I’m Hispanic. That’s MY culture someone is trying on like a costume.
Same with AAVE. It’s not cool for me to use that word because it’s not my culture. I can’t just try on the parts I like or think are cool when it suits me.
So, yeah, it’d be great if we all could just use whatever words we wanted and to take from various cultures at will because “hey, that’s cool! I like that!” but that’s just straight up not how the world works.
I didn’t know that “fuckboy” was AAVE. Like many things, language evolves and morphs and grows over time. I picked it up from who knows where. Maybe from a person of color without realizing it. But if POC are telling me that it’s not cool to use that word because it’s theirs, I won’t. Full stop. End of discussion.
I don’t have to agree with it. I don’t even have to like it. And yeah it sucks because I like that word. It’s great! So descriptive!
But you know what? I am not so attached to a word that it is worth hurting or offending anyone, let alone our amazing readers. I don’t have a defense for using it. I don’t need to use it. It is not in any way integral to my ability to function as a human being. It hurts literally NOTHING in my life to just stop saying it.
Plus, “100% total wet ham sandwich bullshit” words just as well and I don’t think anyone can accuse me of appropriating a wet ham sandwich. Who would even want a wet ham sandwich.
So that, dear French boy, is why I gladly accept being called out, do not mind editing my post (though I probably have more to edit because I’ve used that term before) and will hence forth be striking it from my vocabulary.
Cool word, AAVE. Thanks for introducing me to it. I’ll admire it from afar from now on.
xo, Dani

How the fuck can you compare a transgender personality with soldiers ?
EVERY FUCKING TIME we say Caitlyn Jenner is brave, someone says "think about those soldiers fighting for the country, THIS is bravery". Caitlyn may not be risking her life, she is a model of self acceptance in a world of prejudice and that's brave to me.

You have been visited by the Chan of wealth, reblog this and you will have money come to you!
I REBLOGGED THIS YESTERDAY AND LIKE 2 HOURS LATER THE WALLET I HAD LOST 6 HOURS AWAY FROM HOME THAT HAD MY DEBIT CARD AND LIKE 80 DOLLARS IN CASH WAS DELIVERED TO MY HOUSE WITH NO RETURN ADDRESS I CANT HELP BUT THINK IT WAS JACKIE CHAN WHO SENT IT GOD BLESS YOU JACKIE CHAN
Last time I did this it was payday so duh. Let’s see what you’ve got this time, Chan.
Er, actually, about a minute after I hit reblog I got some very important (and positive) money-related news out of the blue. The system works, guys.
Oh god they even made a "stop-sansa-abuse" blog...
Why are you even surprised ?
Yeah, that's rape. That's awful and I really know how much it can affect a girl. But the rape of Sansa was George R R Martin's decision and the show runner's decision. If you disagree with this decision I suggest you stop watching Game of Thrones, because they already have done worse : rape on a child, incest, rape in front of a dead child, emasculation, torture, and murder. There's no bitching about Sansa's rape because that's the way they do things, I can't believe GoT fans are still shocked to see this.
