This new-build Jacobean-style manor near the site of a demolished Sussex country house perfectly replicates period features with the cosy corners that the owners dreamed of. The kitchen is traditional in feel, with a cream Aga, cabinets designed by Kit Rae-Scott, a stag head wall mount made of straw, and vintage lights.

EMMA BURNS' CONVERTED STABLE BLOCK

The designer Jane Gowers discovered her London house by chance, but its restoration and decoration have been the result of good judgement and a sympathetic approach. The kitchen's traditional cream units were made by Woodstock Furniture, with doors giving access to the garden terrace.

Margaret Roach’s house
Antique, two arm gasolier (electrified) with period etched glass shades. This Victorian chandelier, circa 1880s, is an example of the Aesthetic Movement. The blackened, copper finish seems to foreshadow Japanned luminaires; a vintage, Japanned canopy has been added to make this electrified chandelier complete. Cast zinc, plated steel; some rust and cosmetic blemishes, and a crack in the casting of one arm -- however the gas line, unseen from below, allows the arm to retain its strength. The designs in the metal are delightful, as are the etched, floral designs in the slant shades. 32" long (can be shortened).
