the lock quietly rattles as Phillip unlocks it, opening and closing the door as quietly as he can. he knew it was late, well — more than just late, and you had always been a light sleeper.
he sets his duffle bag by the door, pulling off his shoes as he sighs. a quiet yet happy 'mmurr' sounding at his feet, Scars, your cat, nudging his leg — a tired yet pleased 'hello' he'd learned.
as he quietly walks out the hall Phillip notices light coming from the living room — in particular light changing into the kitchen as a quiet movie or show plays on the tv.
he sighs, a small smile on his lips as he makes his way over the couch — where he finds you curled up on your side in the middle of it. he carefully lowers himself onto the space between your head and one arm of the couch, calloused fingers gently brushing some hair from your face.
the action cause you to scrunch your face, groaning a little as you wake up a little. "hey darlin'," he smiles softly.
you crack open your eyes, squinting a little as you look up at him — Phillip's heart skipping several beats at the way you look at him. you lift your head, laying it down on Phillip's warm lap, your cheek pleasantly nuzzling against his slightly scratchy jean clad thigh.
he smiles tiredly, his heart soaring as you hug his knee, your whole body curling into him. "sugar," he speaks, his voice gentle.
you hum, too tired for an actual reply.
he shakes his head, the smile still stuck on his lips — only getting wider. "let's go up to bed, shall we?" he tries, his long fingers combing through your hair and lightly massaging your scalp.
you tiredly shake your head against his thigh, the jeans scratching your cheek comfortingly, grounding you in such a home-y and safe feeling. along with his scent you felt so, safe. "stay like this," you mumble. "tell me about your day."
who was he to deny you that?
his free hand moved to cup one of your that was hugging his knee, his much larger hand covering yours. his other hand remaining in your hair, gently running his fingers through your hair.
"it was the monthly test day for the tanks today," he spoke, completely sinking into the couch as he watched you. "it felt good to be in a tank again." he never knew what it was, but cleaning, taking care of and operating a tank felt like a second home to him. especially with a few of his Shadow's around in it with him, he couldn't ask for more.
you hummed along, a tired smile kn your lips as you listened. you hugged his knee tighter, curling even more against him as you slowly fell asleep.
he gently squeezed your hand, closing his eyes as he laid his head back. his neck would hurt in the morning, but who cared? you needed this, so he'll do it for you — no matter what.
he let out a yawn, thumb stroking the back of your hand. "i was thinking we could go out for dinner tomorrow? something fancy if you'd like?" he suggested, his hand that massaged your scalp now rested on your head.
you let out an affirming 'mhm', the sound a little raspy.
Scars jumped up onto the couch, settling on Phillip's other thigh. he smiled, briefly letting go of your hand to scratch Scars' little head, soft purrs sounding from the fluffy companion.
Phillip yawned again, rubbing his eyes. "or we could stay in all day, maybe order something." he speaks, voice starting to rasp. "have you all to myself, might keep you in bed all day." he smiles, his hand back to holding yours.
you tired smiled at that, "that sounds like a plan cowboy." you mumbled, pressing a lazy kiss to his thigh.
he grins, opening his eyes as he looks down at you and Scars — his two favourite beings. he wouldn't want to be anywhere else right now. not even in that tank with his Shadow's.
he stretches his arms out, yawning again. "hey sugar, time we head up, don't you think?" he strokes your hair, slowly starting to move.
you groan, a yawn replacing the sound as you stretch against him. you nod against his thigh.
he smiles, both hands sliding down to your waist, pulling you up into his lap — Scars moving with a grumpy 'murr' as Phillip sits you with a leg on either side of his hips.
you smile, nuzzling your head into the crook of his neck, wrapping your arms around his waist. he groans as he lifts you up along with him as he stands up, holding you up by the back of your thighs.
he slowly walks up the stairs, pushing the door to your bedroom open before gently laying you down on the bed. he unbuttons your shirt, pulling it off your shoulders, dropping it in the laundry bin beside the closet. he does the same with your work skirt, unzipping it, then tossing it in the laundry bin.
Phillip pulls his shirt off and his jeans down, tossing them in with your clothes. he leans down, placing gentle kisses across your chest, trailing up to your cheeks — finally pressing a sweet kiss your lips. you sigh into the kiss, your lips tiredly moving against his.
he moves you around, sliding a leg under the blanket before pulling it up over you two and settling down beside you. he let's out a content sigh as he wraps his arms around your waist, moving your head to rest on his warm chest — the rhythm of his heart slowly lulling you back to sleep.
he presses a soft kiss to the top of your head. "goodnight sugar," he whispers as he closes his eyes. "i love you."
you nuzzle somehow closer to him, a sleepy smile on your lips. "i love you too cowboy."

[] He was a jock in high school, and college then he joined the military.
[] When he grew up he originally wanted to be a vet tech, but changed his mind when his cousins made fun of him for it.
[] He grew up on a farm..... he hates farms now. but in his spare time he does rescue animals.
[] Every summer, hes one of the first people to put his pool up, and he even built his own deck.

[] He's actually a neat freak, every Sunday he deep cleans everything. His office, his house and jets. His shadows get a bit annoyed with him, because he uses harsh cleaner.
[] He hates winter because of germs, and he doesn't care for shoveling snow. Once its cold he can't take the doors off his jeep.
[] He hates dad jokes, he's a serious guy. He knows how to have fun but sometimes he a bit uptight.
[] he loves to cook on his grill
[] He's a lot closer with his mom than he was his dad. He still attends church with his mom, even though he's unsure of his beliefs he's always there for her. He's just a call away
[]All of the girls who rejected him in high school want to be with him now, because he has CEO money.
[] He's a hat lover
[] he has to sleep with a fan on, or the window cracked
[] His sweet tea has to have sugar in it, not a whole lot. Just enough for the flavor
[]He works out everyday, at least an hour or two
[] his favorite food is a chicken sandwich without pickles.
[] He likes vans more than converse.
[] Tried to learn how to skateboard.... he failed miserably
