This isn’t art-related, but this is EXTREMELY SERIOUS IF YOU LIVE IN THE US. The following message is pasted from Reddit user DrDreamtime. I did not write this, but it contains all the most important information you should know. It should be spread as far and wide as possible.
For those that do not know or understand what net neutrality is and would rather see a video instead of a LOT of text, here is a good video by John Oliver on Net Neutrality.
Don’t want to do that? Understandable, it’s a 15 minute video. So heres a simple picture to highlight what things could look like
Please take the time to at least do the first easy step, either of the two options work and take very little time.
If this fails, the possibility of actually having to pay more to access reddit, facebook, and any other website or face massive loading speed increases or even a straight out site-block by your ISP.
Tell him how you feel.
Ajit Pai, FCC Chairman: 1-202-418-1000
Reddit won’t let me post the rest of the FCC contact information, something with the formatting and the automod, I think. You can click here, to go to the FCC’s official contact page.
You need to contact your representatives and senators about Net Neutrality even if they already support it, but especially if they don’t.
Remember that this very thread is only possible because of a free and open internet; kill net neutrality and threads like this might be a thing of the past.
Easy way:
Step 1: Go to BattleForTheNet.com. Step 2: Do what BattleForTheNet.com tells you to do.
-OR-
Text RESIST to 50409 to get help from RESIST Bot. It helps you find your reps, write letters to them, and sends them faxes FOR FREE. Everyone who cares about Net Neutrality should take 5 minutes to write to your representatives, once a week (or a day). Be heard.
The harder, but still very easy way:
Step 1: Find out who your Representative and Senator is/are.
Find your Representative.
Find your Senator.
Local elected officials.
Step 2: Find your Representative and Senator’s contact information.
5calls.org has a decent repository of Representatives and Senators contact information, though the site is a bit difficult to navigate.
Call My Congress just asks for your zip code and tells you what district you live in, who your Representatives are, and how to contact them.
DailyKos has a list of all of our Senator’s phone numbers, not just the DC office. (Current as of February, 2017.)
FaxZero has a system set up allowing you to fax your Representatives and Senators for free! (Faxes are good if you can’t get through on the phone lines, or just if you want congressional staffers to listen to fax machine noises until Net Neutrality is safe.)
Fax Congress
Fax Senators
Step 3: Call, write, or fax to express your feelings on this.
A lot of people are nervous about calling their elected officials for the first time, maybe you don’t know what to say, or how to say it, or even who you’ll be talking to, so here’s what you’ll need to know.
There’s a 75% chance your call will be answered by a Secretary who is specifically there to listen to your concerns, there’s a 25% chance your call will be bumped into a voicemail box which is specifically there to listen to your concerns, there is a ~0% chance you’ll find yourself on the phone with your Senator or Representative.
You may be asked for your name and address or zip code, it’s okay not to tell them if you don’t want to, but the information is useful for your elected officials. I usually just give my first name, zip code, and the name of my town.
Don’t worry about a script, don’t worry about being eloquent, you’re not writing Shakespeare here, you’re a concerned citizen voicing their frustrations, fears, and hopes. “I’m really scared of Ajit Pai’s plans to roll back net neutrality, a free and open internet is important to me because [Your reason here. Some suggestions: An open internet is important to democracy/I worry what Donald Trump might do with more power/Cable bills are already too high/etc.]. Please tell [Senator or Representative] that I support a free and open internet, I support Net Neutrality, and I vote.” The only hard and fast rule is that you need to be polite; these folks are getting dozens, if not hundreds of calls a day, they don’t need you bitching and swearing at them for something they have no control over. Be passionate, but be polite.
Reminder: Only call YOUR OWN elected officials! Calling Mitch McConnell from sunny Florida won’t do anyone any good, and might actually harm the cause. Only call your own elected officials, period.

On balloons.
There’s a post going around that advocates giving clowns only real helium balloons. I’m not going to link to that post, because I don’t want the OP getting any hate. The balloon misconception is SUCH a common one I don’t think any one of us can say we didn’t fall prey to it at one point or another. But, the fact of the matter is, helium balloons are not good enrichment for clowns.
Firstly, they’re not sustainable. Helium is a rapidly depleting resource. Secondly, clowns like balloons because they mistake them for their eggs. A clown bouncing a balloon around on a string is taking care of its ‘baby.’ Clown eggs are brightly colored spheres that float around at shoulder-height, if healthy, and are transported by the parent by means of a filament. Balloons mimic these incredibly well. That is why clowns find balloons on the ground so distressing - a downed egg contains a sick embryo. The despair they experience when one floats away is that of child loss, and I’m sure you can imagine why they’re so distressed when one pops. That’s why malevolent breeds are predisposed to the act! All balloons “die”. They cannot hatch. Every experience a clown has with a balloon, however happy at the outset, ends in tragedy. They are not good enrichment items, no matter how busy they keep a clown.
So what are some alternatives? If you have two or more clowns of any social breed, then toys like custard pies, water squirters, and air horns make excellent entertainment. Note: Most common breeds are social. If you are keeping a social breed singularly, you MUST play with it for several hours a day at the bare minimum. While these breeds tend to adore balloons the most, the repeat psychological trauma they suffer because of them is not worth the easy out. If you keep a breed that prefers a solitary existence, they will get the most out of things like juggling supplies and balance balls. Make sure they have a safe space to play with these in when you aren’t home to supervise. All breeds need human interaction. A few times a week you need to show your clown you appreciate it - that’s the best enrichment of all. Remember that some methods of training result in ‘unusual’ reactions to the four quadrants - most commonly, +P will become “rewarding” - and some performance breeds innately make that connection, so research the right way to reward your clown.
On a final note, DO NOT GIVE MIMES BALLOONS. Look on any mime forum and you’ll see countless threads with titles like “Help! My mime won’t play with toys!” Yeah, dipshit, THEY DON’T UNDERSTAND TOYS. All members of the mime group are highly specialized working breeds geared towards imagination play. They are very intelligent, deeply driven to perform their unique rituals, and not much else. They need to do their original job to be happy. They need to put on shows. If you cannot provide the stimulation of a fully public performance at least once a week for your mime, and cannot provide regular training sessions, either, do not get a mime. Consider a fool instead. A lot of people brush off fools as beginner breeds, too rambunctious and talkative, but there’s a reason they were preferred by royalty for centuries. They’re actually very versatile and eager to please! They do love tumbling and have a knack for mimicking human speech, but will happily learn the same tricks as a mime. They’re also content to live singularly and enjoy practicing in private quite a lot, making them rather compatible with modern life. Their larger cousins, the jesters, can also learn mime routines, but keep in mind that they are more willful! The sinister jester is a near dupe for the creepy mime, a popular breed, but they’re not a great choice for a total novice. Remember, they contributed heavily to the makeup of the scary clowns. (o: Both fools and jesters will prefer to have physical props to play with in their off-time even if they’re trained to perform without them.

Why Did They Come?
I understand the anger many people have towards Sixpencee, because yea child slavery is atrocious. It’s 2017. It shouldn’t exist. However, before we all jump onto the mob mentality and let our emotions get the best of us, let’s examine at the root of the problem.
In countries, such as the Philippines, where government corruption is so rampant, money is not allocated to the poor or simply doesn’t reach them, the way it does in America. Here, we have public and private programs to combat issues like hunger and homelessness. In many third-world countries, there is no one else to rely on besides yourself. This is why many children are forced to seek out jobs in order to provide income for their families.
As someone who truly understands the conditions of extreme third-world poverty, children working is part of everyday life. If you are able to work, you work.
Poverty doesn’t just skip over you because you are a child. Not everyone has a mommy and daddy to pay for the roof over their heads, the food in their mouth, the clothes on their back; especially, if that parent works a hard, low-paying job in the rice fields and has more than you to feed. Not working is a privilege of the rich, something a majority of these countries can’t afford. There isn’t the privelage to bum around the house during summer, because God knows you need to have money saved up for the monsoon season.
The alternative to not working could mean starvation. In many cases, children take domestic jobs, such as washing clothes, in order to pay for school fees. It’s very easy to fall between the cracks when it comes to education, because there is no authority checking if every child is enrolled. Yes, schools collect money from the government, but not enough to give out free tuition to every child who need it.
For every child to have access to clean water, food shelter, and education is the ideal. But in many areas that is not the reality due to the environment and circumstances they live in. In Filipino culture it’s not uncommon to hire a child to help as a caregiver or do menial tasks, such as sweeping and dusting a family mausoleum. We’re not savages that beat children into doing hard labor. Does this mean that there aren’t children are trafficked and underpaid? No, of course not. But that is the most extreme example and is punished accordingly. We aren’t brutes that tolerate the exploitation of children. We have morals. Do not mistake this for American slavery, where Africans were forced to work for the benefit of their white owners. Many of the immigrants in the U.S. today didn’t get here by working part time at a Denny’s. It takes years to earn enough money to pay for paper fees and travel. I admire my mother’s hustle selling street food since she was a young girl in order to get through the nursing program and the opportunity to immigrate here when the U.S. was petitioning immigrants due to their own lack of nurses.
So when Sixpenceee speaks about her family owning an 8-year old, don’t assume that she’s involved in a human trafficking ring. Why would anyone even brag about that? I understand why many people who live in Westernized countries would believe that, because it doesn’t happen in your particular country. But don’t project your level of living conditions onto the rest of the world. Furthermore, for those of you attacking her for it, remember that it’s her family who owns the boy. She does not pay his salary, therefore she does not have an authority over the matter. When she says that she dislikes the practice of child labor, it’s not that the boy experiences abuse, it’s that he has to work in order to provide himself a decent living at such a young age. That’s the sickening part. What’s upsetting is how everyone on this hellsite is simplifying an issue that has affected generations of people. We. All. Know. Child. Slavery. Is. Wrong. It’s easy to jump onto the mob mentality and attack something that easy. But this has deep social and economical roots. This idea of realeasing all the children will not help them as much as you think it will. Unless, you yourself have experienced extreme poverty or come from generations that have experienced it and worked as children, you simply do not understand.
Broaden the conversation and listen to those with actual experience instead of assuming your viewpoint is universal. I have nothing against SJWs, but when they feed the mob mentality with nothing but angry emotions and nothing intellectual, I have a problem. Stop simplifying the problem to make it easier to attack. The result is anger without direction and strong opinions that miss key variables. AGAIN, CHILD LABOUR IS NOT AS SIMPLE AS YOU THINK. Please do your research. If you still think it is after that, then my darling SJW, you're taking up too much space in the conversation.
Again, Let’s not forget that in many cases, you benefit from child slavery. Don’t forget about the sweatshops that exist to fill your fast-fashion, low-cost clothing or the big name companies that exploit children for their products, despite claiming not to. (John Oliver does a very excellent piece on this in his episode about Fashion)
Conclusion: Yes, be angry about child labor. Educate yourself on the matter. But direct your anger into doing something productive. Donate to charities that directly fund families in poorer countries, so they don’t have to send their children to work. It’s easy to say your against such an injustice. But if you’re so willing to say “FUCK SIXPENCEEE” “SLAVERY IS WRONG”, then I expect action out of it. Don’t use my people’s struggle against an corrupt system as simply something to act indignant about on the internet and then forget about the next day.
ALSO, I’m getting real tired of white people getting mad at me for not agree with their superficial, misguided solutions, especially when they don’t understand what they’re talking about. When you say “free all the children” how do they provide for their families? How do they afford education? If your solution can be summed up to “End Child Labor, there’s no excuse”, then please tell me how to do this without further damning people live into a deeper poverty. I want details, not some broad angry opinion. If it is may I advise you to take a Current World Issues or Asian studies class. If educating yourself on the matter and admitting you were wrong is too hard for you, then I’d advise not to talk out of your ass about complex issues that are beyond you’re maturity and intellectual capablity. You’re barely scratching the surface. There is no safety net to catch them when the fall farther below the poverty line. We need an overhaul of the system. You aren’t solving the problem. You are being a white savior. I can’t sugarcoat this. I’ve had someone screenshot my messages explaining this, block me, and then post my my messages trying to attack me when I can’t even defend myself. I don’t like people demeaning my culture and people as some backwards barbarians, instead of victims of circumstance.
tldr; Not Every Child Has The Privelage Of Not Working Because They Don’t Live In Financially Stable Countries Such As Yourself.
