Even before the revelation circle, trying to take the heat off of Apo in the militia meeting room. "How does this look for me, keeping your secret from the militia?" "The same it looks for me."

No hesitation. No judgement, just a shield whenever they needed it. The shield a younger Doc must have needed.

also I feel like this is a given but I always rolled my eyes whenever the coven vampires were like "those mean humans ruined the environment with the forest fire! think of all the cute little animals that lost their homes!!!!!" as if they aren't the ones decimating the local wildlife population

And also if Owen’s “I planted these trees” comment’s to be believed, then it’s not actually a natural forest but just an acreage planted for the sake of lumber harvest (which in the absence of people in Oakhurst likely would’ve overgrown and displaced the native ecology, also explainin how all the paths around Oakhurst are so torn up despite the lack of foot-traffic, turf’s all rooted up)

Yeah these two would be very cute.

I'm reaching the end of my brain energy for tonight cause I just sat through a two hour meeting for a local sport committee I'm on (after a very long work day) so I don't have all the words for this but

Apo is SO full of love, and that is something that Drift needs SO badly.

They would be able to give each other some much needed kindness, I think. Drift very much seems to try to see the best in people, even if it comes at a cost, and Apo is a fountain of hope, and will give everything she can to keep that hope alive.

There is SO much trauma for them to work through, even early on in canon, but they probably could have been really good for each other

(Just checked and yes that’s their ship name) Anyway, traumatised cutie pies, both so desperately holding onto hope and love in their own ways that are so fundamentally different from each other. The two hearts of the two factions.

they would be extremely doomed, I think. So much tragedy because I don’t know if they could ever see eye to eye. But if they *could* they would be extremely sweet together.

there are a thousand layers of tragedy to Apo’s story but one that really gets me is the fact that Apo never got to save anyone.

For a character as selfless and caring and willing to try again as Apo, it’s just so gut-wrenching sad that none of the people closest to them made it out, or at least made it out with their connections to Apo reasonably intact.

Apo did so much for all of the people under their protection. They sacrificed everything—their time, their loyalty, their chance at an even slightly less horrible stint in Oakhurst, even their life.

And the worst part is, it’s not like Apo accomplished nothing. They directly saved Martyn from his injuries and Pearl from the vampires and Doc from being turned by Cleo. They protected Avid and Drift in episode three and got all of the townsfolk through the final fights. They helped to damage Pyro, Owen and Avid to the degree that it contributed to all three of their deaths.

And in the end it didn’t matter.

Half of the people Apo wanted to protect became the people they had to kill. Doc got turned. Martyn and Ren died. She was betrayed over and over and over again.

And isn’t that so cruel?

Apo is kind and selfless and fights for what she believes in. The classic hero cannot stop everything from falling apart.

The love was there, and it didn’t save anyone.
