The Modern Family Trans Episode
I didnt like the Modern Family trans Episode. I thought I'd like it, bc as far as I remember they handled the gay thing well (even tho meh).
I am not complaining about the representation, bc its way better then most sitcoms did it, especially at the time it started.
But I feel critical today: let me tell you why I didn't like the trans episode.
The episode I'm talking about is when younger Lily had a friend visit her. The friend –Tom– is her age and therefore pretty young and he wasnt depicted stereotypical or off in any way, so those are all plus points.
When introduced tho two things caught me off guard. Mitchel proudly told Cameron that Lilys friend is a transgender boy, but instead if using the word it felt like the show tried to avoid saying "trans" at all costs, as if its a bad word.
Instead he told Cameron about it through just dropping Toms deadname, saying: "Tom used to be a [deadname]" and thats like the worst way to tell somebody. Outing transguys? Not cool. Outing them while saying their deadname? Even less cool. No matter how old the kid is. Also the phrasing of "used to be" bothers me, if somebody told me I used to je deadname or I used to be a girl just feels hurtful, I've always been me.
The second thing is Camerons reaction. He said something along the lines of "Don't tell me that, you know how proud I am of spotting that." For everybody that doesnt know: "Spotting trans people" isnt a sport or a goal. It just feels weird. Its giving "You can always tell."
Is it that important? I think its a little bc TV sitcoms like that is for many people the only touching point with topics like queerness and gender diversity. People see that and act accordingly and I feel like painting stuff out – no matter how small – isn't a bad thing.
Even tho there are way heavier and more urgent topics rn. All my Trans-siblings in america: Please stay strong, we are watching, we believe in you, we go on the streets for you and I'm thinking of you, they can not take away your identity, no matter how hard they try.

"Why do I wanna be a man" in that one version of Sailor Song isnt about trans men I think
(Fine if you use ot ofc, there arent any rules for using songs, I just feel like the issue of lesbians feeling guilty for being queer gets overseen in this, my lesbian friends say that too, but not bc they want to be men, just bc they want to desperatly get away from the hardship and guilt of being wlw)
I'm new to boyhood, is it normal that we all just talk while peeing? Can we maybe not, please?
Little reminder that you can participate in surveys when youre transitioning (at least in germany/my case) and get money for that.
Im literally making money for being trans. Its my main job, actually
People ask me if being trans is hard. And it really is. But then I blast Katy Perrys "This is the part of me" or "kings and queens" and remember how I was twelve, a baby trans at my first pride, finally realizing we are so many and that all those people get me and are like me and happy and proud and always on my side....and it all was'nt for nothing. That moment altered my brain chemistry and those were my first happy tears in years.
We will stick together and look out for each other, because I really believe being queer/ trans connects us in some way. There will always be a kid/teen that looks at our community and realize it can be themself.
Be open, be queer, as long and loud as we can. This isnt about being "cringe", this is about our lifes and the deep struggles we had and have to go through as a minority.
I'm not too much on Transblr, but I saw this be done in another of my tumblr-bubbles, so here it goes:
❗️✨️Trans Ask Game ✨️❗️
(just reblog and let people in your comments sent the ask with the fitting emoji, only answer if youre comfortable with it of course)
🏳️⚧️: "Whats the meaning of your current name? How did you get it?"
🤟: "What was your first chosen name and why?"
🍫: "What was the final turning point where you noticed you're trans?"
🐶: "Who was the first person/pet you told youre trans?"
🔮: "Whats your craziest: 'If I was born [gender] I would [xy]"
⏳️: "What do you think only other trans people can understand?"
💭: "Whats an underground trans song you wish EVERYBODY knew"
(If youre bored you can also just reblog and answer without getting asks)
Now that we all grew up, this is my gender envy from childhood:
(Jojo from Hortan hears a who btw)
Guess who just changed in the boys locker room for the first time and made friends with his super awesome dragon keychain. Thats right, I did.
I've been really bored lately, is there any fictional character (preferibly cartoon/animated) that I can re-design for you to make 'em Trans?
Sex education and being Trans or queer
Hey, hey, I just wanna say some adults arent good at their job at all and that school usually only teaches s e x stuff for straight and cis people (and even then not really well), so please, please, please, get educated in other safe ways when youre queer.
Trans people on T can get pregnant.
LGBTQ+ kids are sometimes more vulnerable to SA.
There are many ways two people of the same sex can have fun together.
It can be helpful to know about LGBT+ culture.
You dont owe anyone anything.
And so much more.
You are just as much able to have sex, fun, a relationship (or multiple) then anybody else, no matter your sexuality or gender. Its not your fault that you dont get teached rugt ir have to teach yourselve. Society failed you and not the other way around.
Stay safe and kind to yourselve.
Lil sibs and being trans (pos)
I have a lil sis that noticed some pics of younger me, so my Mom explained to her I was born in a girls body and am a boy. She understood since she is only four and met me as a boy and since the concept isnt as hard to grasp as people make it seem.
Anyway, she told it around in her kindergarden so in the end I was walking to the park with the lil girl and two twins that recently started learning german (my native language).
One of em liked me a lot and asked me suddenly "Why are you a boy"? I'm like "oh, because I feel like one". And that lil sweetheart knows Im a twin too and she asked if I swapped with my twin, lol.
I told her no, my twin was born a girl and is a girl and I was born a girl and am a boy. She was like "okay, then only you swapped."
Anygay, kids get it, I love being visible so kids get teached young and I really wanna say "I swapped gender" from now on, haha.
"Non Binary people and trans people have been existing since day one" Is that right?
Yes, Part 2 (look at my Blog for part one °~°)
4. WW2 (1933-1945) and the book burning: sexological research was wiped out and homosexual rights were repealed by the NS-Regime, before that the queer culture was starting to get normalized, there were some gay bars, but the N**is destroyed that progress
5. The Scythian Enari (7th and 3rd century BCE) : androgynous priests that were sometimes seen as a third gender, usually born male and "acting and dressing" female
6. Greek Mythology and Caeneus: The olympian god Dionysus was sometimes seen as the protector of queer and trans people, many gods where portrayed as Bi or Genderfluid/ Genderqueer, one transman named Caeneus transitioned with Poseidons help
Those were my six favorite examples to annoy transphobes. Ladys, Gentlemen and the noble Non Binary folk, we will see each other for more soon and: Hang in there. -/🤟
"Non Binary people and trans people have been existing since day one" Is that right?
Yes. And down below I will show examples of trans people that have been existing in ancient times, so you, my fellow little nerdy transbugs and butterflys✨️, can use it in debates (or just for educational purpose) :)
Emperor Elagabalus: ⚔️💄A Transwoman (218-222 AD): "Call me not Lord, for I am a Lady", many museums classyfied her as a transwoman, she wore wigs and make-up and asked to be called she in her chronicals
The Middle Kingdom of Egypt🏺: Three gender (2000-1800 BCE): Poterry shards and other sources show they had three gender at that time in egypt: Tai, sht and hmt (male, sehkat and female)
The Wild West and Cowboys 🤠🏳️🌈(1865-1895):The West promised freedome for many Black and queer americans and woman, "far from visions of white heroic masculinity, the West was filled with examples of represantation", says the Manchester Historisn, 2022)
Follow for part 2 and more details, sources and ancient queers. We've been here for forever.
