True Story

My sister and I are talking about Voltron and she's laughing her little eight-year-old ass off.

Little Sister: *suddenly stops giggling* Wait a minute...! *grabs my arm* Why do you have purple lightnings on your arm?

Me: Those are stretch marks.

Little Sister: How'd you get them?

Me: Well, when you grow your skin stretches and then these marks appear on your body.

Little Sister: Will I get them when I'm older?

Me: I dunno, maybe you will.

Little Sister: *groans* Oooh, I hope so; I want to have pretty arms too!

I saw this idea a while ago and it made my heart feel something. I’ve always been self conscious of my stretch marks, and trust me, this isn’t even half of them. My weight has been fluctuating since I was 12, I’m small, then I’m bigger, then small again. I was always ashamed of them because whenever they showed up more, whenever they were more noticeable, I knew that I had gained weight. But now I’ve realized that they are just a natural thing and everybody has them. It’s a part of life and I’m happy to embrace them now. That’s why I decided to fill them in with glitter, something I love so much, to make their beauty sparkle. 💖
