Hello! I do fiber arts, with a focus on woven bracelets and accessories. Commissions are open right now and my online store is over at https://braceletstea.etsy.com.
did a bunch of bracelet tails and a bookmark tassel today, and finished a fun dragonfly wall hanging. next up I plan to start several additional bracelets because I'm down to one wip so I feel a little naked.
I finished a major project and I know it's important to Bask after completion so here I am, satisfied at finishing a hat band commissioned like 6 months ago.
I'm an artist and medical student, and I use art to help me pay some bills.
I built a free, helpful tool because to help prevent other talented creatives from undercharging, as I really see this a lot online.
It's a calculator with a built in reality check
Input your survival costs and expenses
True billable hours
Get the rate you actually need to charge to hit a 20% (or whatever you choose) profit margin.
It generates the rate, a template negotiation email + final invoice.
Plan to keep this tool free, ad-free, and open to everyone.

If the "Thriving Rate" calculation empowers you to double your quote on your next job, please consider hitting the "Buy me a coffee"button. It keeps the server running and the code flowing <3
I am an artist and medical student and creator of Art-Res, a blog where I write and curate art resources. Hopefully you find art that bring
my favorite tassel-making tutorial has either been removed from the internet or pushed so far down by the Algorithm that I can't find it. rip. time to do my best to recreate it from memory.
There's a lot going on in the world right now. Take a moment, take a breath, and let this coming month be a time of healing.
What is weighing on you today?
I've been running myself ragged. (Pile 1)
I'm trying to heal from a deep hurt. (Pile 2)
I feel stuck doomscrolling. (Pile 3)

Pile one:
The Hanged One , Adelita of Water (Knight of Cups), Eight of Water (Eight of Cups)
It’s time to seek outside perspectives. You may be facing new challenges and changes that you weren’t expecting, and it may be difficult to know how to move forward. The people around you have faced similar obstacles, and if you ask them they will help. At the same time, remember that any decisions you make are ultimately yours, and you are the person who has to live with them.
As you face these new challenges, prioritize self-care. Step away from the world for an hour or two and take time to intentionally revitalize yourself. Don’t just scroll through Tumblr; work on a creative project, take a walk through a local park, or bake something from scratch. The goal here is not just to distract yourself, but to remember that there is more to life than the problems you’ve been facing.
In a similar vein, if you find yourself consistently feeling overextended and tired, it may be time to take a look at your commitments and perhaps prune them. Step back and ask yourself what is most important to you. What can you let go of, if only for a while? Who can you ask for help? You can’t run forever at full speed.
Pile two:
The Star, Hija of Earth (Page of Pentacles), Six of Water (Six of Cups)
Hope will guide you this month. You have been hurt deeply in the past, and as counter-intuitive as it seems, part of the healing process means learning to trust again. You will meet people who deserve that trust, who trust you in return. If you close yourself off, that growth will slow and stagnate. You have reason to be cautious, absolutely, but please don’t let past wounds prevent you from finding community.
At the same time, maintain your boundaries. Let yourself prioritize time for self-care and self-maintenance this month, and know that trustworthy people will respect those boundaries. Self-care looks different for everyone, but for you it may show up as listening to your body and respecting its limits. This may mean intentionally setting time aside to sit in a meditative state, paying attention to one part of your body at a time. Are you in pain or discomfort? What can you do to relieve it? Pay especially close attention to hunger and exhaustion cues.
Draw your people close to you this month. Intentionally schedule time with them to celebrate your love for each other, and to acknowledge all your achievements. Let this be a time of connection; cook together, work on creative projects in parallel, or take a day trip to explore a nearby town. Form new memories while you reminisce about previous adventures, and perhaps let your childlike self take over for a while.
Pile Three:
The Chariot, Hija of Fire (Page of Wands), Four of Air (Four of Swords)
Remain firm in your convictions. You see the injustices in the world, and you may feel a righteous anger burning within you. Choose your causes wisely, however. Your energy is limited, and it is generally better to pick a few projects you can truly help than to half-heartedly support every cause on your feed. Give it some thought this month; there are many ways for you to make a difference, and no path is necessarily right or wrong.
As you choose your causes, take into account your passions. Do you feel more excited about calling voters, or digging up invasive weeds? The best way to help the world is to find something you can do consistently and that you will enjoy. Approach with a childlike energy — wonder, excitement, curiosity, and creativity. Be willing to fail a few times as you learn and grow.
You may also need to take time to rest. Perhaps take an intentional break from social media to help your nervous system reset. You may find it helpful to replace scrolling with another activity, like meditation or stretching. Consider why you find yourself doomscrolling, and look for alternatives. That might mean cutting down on screen time, or it might mean looking for people to follow who post uplifting content and calls to action rather than just talking about how everything is hopeless.

a lot of people recognized me from other events specifically because of the cat photos on my booth.
I sell pairs of matching half-heart necklaces. one person said that she and her partner bought a pair a while ago and used them in lieu of engagement rings before they got married 😭
so many parents and kids! so many grandparents and kids!
one small child ran up and said "I have two dollars!" I offered him a sticker and he made a disappointed noise before running to find more exciting stickers.
lots of people using mobility aids, mostly canes but at least one person had a power wheelchair.
one person kept asking if my stuff was free (I was in the nonprofit alley and all my neighbors were giving shit away) and almost fully put a necklace in their bag before I told them the price.
That same person got cookie crumbs all over my table while I gave them a tarot reading that they kept interrupting. a very stressful ten minutes.
I got to practice the Celtic cross spread a few times.
I made ~$450 (gross) meaning this was my second-best sales day ever.
I have a big event next weekend and I am starting to feel so frantic about the amount of prep I have left to do that last night I had a dream I was supposed to share a booth and my booth partner completely took over the table so I had nowhere to put anything
and to make matters worse they were hosting a buffet so even if I could put out my wares they would inevitably get dirty and stained
The holidays will soon be upon us. Our work takes time to create, which I know many of forget. Now is the time to get to work on holiday projects. You don't want to be rushed and stressed like a uni student who forgot to wrote that ten page paper until the day before it's due.
I'm a quilter, my work takes time. If you want a twin size winter holiday quilt, commissioning me for one in December will likely result in it being finished in January. You want a Halloween lap quilt? Unless you want it done in November, the latest to commission me for it to arrive on time is mid-September.
This applies to all handmade items.
Do not procrastinate about this unless a late arrival for next year is what you want.
