sometimes i think about this tweet and i love it for its sentiment and i can feel the comfort of what it describes; and at the same time i can't ever imagine not wanting to stay in the next room... i want to live forever because i want to stay on that couch...... singing folk songs around the coffee table and hearing laughter from people playing board games just a few feet away, hearing chatter from the kitchen with no wall in between, and maybe falling asleep but only if it's with my head on someone's shoulder while they talk to someone else. i just came home from that house, with the singing and chatting and laughter, and it's the kind of feeling to live forever in, it really is.

has anyone else thought the term "metaphor" is being overused rn? i feel like ive been seeing it a lot to refer to things that better fit "allegory" bc they represent something else but also are still literally happening within the text. like someone fell in a fic and the author said "the falling is a metaphor" bc it represented mental health but also it was how he got out of a situation and he broke actual bones when he landed and other characters found him etc, so it did actually happen. or i've heard people say lotr is a metaphor for wwii, but it's not like the entire series is actually referring to the war, it's just potentially an underlying layer, ie allegory. which is basic figurative language but everyone's defaulting to metaphor lol
