does Scott wake up in the middle of the preserve from the beginning because he's trying to process the bite from Peter?

Is it the same as Scott waking up in the preserve when he was trying to remember Stiles?

Like I know everybody always goofs on ‘how dumb Scott is’ in that iconic TW gifset from two reblogs ago, but its literally why I’m always like intelligence is subjective and that had nothing to do with intellect anyway but was entirely about perspective and world view. It wasn’t that Scott was incapable of grasping what Jackson was asking there, it was that the idea that he might take steroids was so out of left field for Scott it literally didn’t even cross his mind as an option for what Jackson actually meant there. Whereas Jackson’s confusion was entirely rooted in how it was so NATURAL for him to conclude that Scott’s athletic prowess was the result of steroids, he couldn’t even fathom that Scott didn’t actually get what he meant by ‘juice’ and was just playing dumb.

If you look at that gifset and Scott’s expression at the end, like….he very clearly thinks Jackson is every bit as obtuse as Jackson thinks he’s being. Like the hilarious part to me is that both of them are literally thinking ‘how is this a real conversation I’m having right now, this guy must be the stupidest person alive’ because based on where each of them is coming from…..Jackson’s question seems every bit as dumb to Scott as Scott’s answer sounds to Jackson. They’re just coming from entirely different places because they are extremely different people.

i just want you to know that THIS? fucked me up and i think about it once a month. it’s an excellent set.

"who put the baby in charge?" is such a perfect title for an analysis of scott mccall in teen wolf. it makes me think about how the narrative never really criticises the parentification of scott, never really allows scott to be perceived as the child he is throughout the show. adults are regarded with more sympathy both in text and by the fandom and i just think more people need to sit with their thoughts and consider why scott’s pain is never actually as weighted as other characters’. and why most of the canon exploration of him dealing with pain is almost always about other people.
