It can be so isolating working on sound design and having few people that I know want to hear me ramble about it.

There's so much love and joy and passion that I put into everything I do with this. Not an ounce of it feels forced or like I'm not trying enough. There's this part of me that just wants to talk about all those joys.

I get lonely running a show by myself. That's why I'm glad I have such a wonderful cast that stepped up and wanted to be involved. It makes things a lot easier.

Sometimes I just want to drone on about things I do with sounds to somebody, but I realize it's not everyone's cup of tea.

Hello, friends - and welcome to our second casting call post in a month! We're extremely excited for Rites of Descendancy to finish casting, but we're ALSO looking for roles to fill for Season 4 of Syntax! All of the roles posted will be involved in both Season 4 and Season 5 of Syntax, and vary on recording times/length. As per usual, these roles will be paid depending on sponsorships, ad revenue, and Patreon income!

Podcast Jam!

The PBC’s 2024 Podcast Jam is a collaborative event running from early February to May for anyone interested in creating an audio drama, both prior creators and newcomers to podcasting. Inspired by game jam events, teams of writers, voice actors, editors and artists will collaborate to create the pilot episode of a fiction podcast from start to finish, with the last weekend of the event dedicated solely to recording and editing of the episodes.

We know that, while the barrier of entry for podcasting is low, it can still be intimidating to jump into a show alone without any experience in the field. Thus, we hope this event will encourage new folks to try their hand at creating in a relatively low-stress, community-based environment, alongside giving current podcasters a fun change of pace from their ongoing shows. Though only a pilot will be created for the jam, participants are welcome and encouraged to continue their show beyond the event if so desired (we would love to have some new shows to keep up with!)

Team Submission Form Deadline: March 30th

Team Announcements: April 6th

Project Withdraw Date: April 20th

Jam Weekend: May 3rd - May 6th

Episode Submission: May 6th

Public Episode Release: May 25th

begging audio drama fans, especially people who like the eye podcasts™️ (tma, wtnv, malevolent) and other people who like queer horror podcasts, to listen to Hello From The Hallowoods. it's incredible. it's written, produced and narrated all by one person, William A. Wellman, and they do an incredible job at it !

the best way I can describe hfth is a big warm hug, though sometimes the hug is a bit too tight and it might hurt a bit, but it'll loosen up again soon and be that familiar warm hug again. every episode, you are greeted by Nikignik, who will tell you about the stories of the humans, monsters and other beings who reside in the Northern Hallowoods. the cast of characters is huge and I have so much love for (almost) every single one of the characters. there's a lot of diversity and so, so much queer joy <3

season 4 starts at the end of this month, so there's still some time to catch up :] (if you do, let me know what you think !!! I would love to talk about hfth with anyone)

Imagine if you guys individually put the minimal effort of copy-pasting the text you're screenshotting below the screenshots themselves instead of 15 people adding on and on a gigantic bulk of screenshots waiting for one sole person to transcribe it all for you so that maybe visually impaired people are allowed to participate in society for once.

I know I don't always deliver in making sure all the content I post/reblog has image descriptions but I have very impairing chronic fatigue with cognitive dysfunction and I'm tired of having to choose between:

Reblogging important information without transcribing, excluding my visually impaired siblings from participating in those important conversations.

Using my last working braincell in transcribing walls of text that each person could've easily copy-pasted below making accessibility the communal effort it's supposed to be.

Just not reblogging it.

What irritates me the most is that since abled people refuse to engage with disabled communities most of you don't even consider the possibility that transcribing is a necessity, so 9 times out of 10 when someone is transcribing those bible-length screenshots, it's someone who's also disabled, just as braindead as me.

9 times out of 10 it's someone who went for option #2 despite their own impairments, when the individual abled people who posted the originals could've simply COPIED AND PASTED a small chunk of text in two seconds with little to no effort instead.

Again: Accessibility is supposed to be a communal effort. If we all contribute in small ways then less and less people will be excluded and most of the people helping won't even notice the effort. Come on. If you're posting screenshots of articles or tweets just fucking copy and paste the text below. It's not hard. Visually impaired people deserve to be able to partake.

I just finished Where the Stars Fell; as a disabled and autistic, mixed, butch lesbian, I felt so seen. The show is also just so artfully crafted??? Absolutely beautiful. Don't even get me started on the score.

Another point I want to touch on is just how Lucille is portrayed. Usually within the media, butches -especially BIPOC ones- either fall into one of two character arcs: Asshole with a dark past, usually criminal, or One night stand. The fact that Lucille has so many layers and straight up defies both tropes is monumental.
