well, i have not heard of it before and an always looking for new audiodramas (im making my way through s5 of tap atm). whats it about and would you recommend it?

👁️👁️ what kinda vibes does hi nay have

WHAAA IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED okay so Hi Nay is about a girl named Mari who lives in Toronto and fights ghosts and monsters her friends. It’s a lot like TMA and malevolent in that there are a lot of evil fucking guys who use dark powers to get what they want, but it’s more based in real folklore and ghost stories than other podcasts. The heroes of the show are all lgbt and they are way more inclusive of poc than most podcasts. The main character is an immigrant woman and she gets her magic from her heritage. I really like this show because the characters, Mari in particular, feel so real. Real women drink milk tea and have complicated relationships with their mothers and are pansexual. It’s so cool to see someone so like the people I know in the media I enjoy most. And they get to face the horrors too!

July Announcement (I'm off to the UK!)

Hi everyone! You might have already heard in my announcement that I'm gonna be in the UK for friends and family from July 15-Aug 2 and will be unable to work on new Hi Nay episodes while I'm there. I'll be seeing family but also seeing some Hi Nay and Dominus VAs!

Audio Drama Sunday - 12th July ✨

Here’s all the good stuff I listened to this week! 🎧💫

🦋 @remnantspod (53) I was already heartbroken by the Apprentice’s ‘I wish I’d let you’ that I was caught in a fight or flight response when I heard Gloria’s name. I’ve been waiting for this episode for SO long and, yes, of course, it had me in tears. Remnants has always humanised even its worst characters and this was no different. We’ve seen the echoes of Gloria’s abuse ripple out into every experience her nephew had for the rest of his life. The ‘I still dreamed of you’ and ‘I must have been so bad, I thought, to make someone with such soft hands be so rough’. Send an ambulance. I also thought the ending of this episode was so neatly done. It’s such a skill to find the right moment to cut off from that crescendo of feeling! 

👩🏾‍❤️‍👨🏻 Life With LEO(h) by @atypicalartists (2.06-2.08) Ohh I LOVED the end of this season, what delicious culminations to the character arcs we’ve been rooting for! Though I came to love Parker, I am very much satisfied with the ending! Grandma Rhee was a stand-out performance in the last few episodes as well! PLEASE can we have another season?? PLEASE. I want Roommate to have her sapphic dreams realised 🥹 please???

🧋 @hinaypod (87) Oooh Mari, it doesn’t sound like she’s in good shape at all! Who knew that trying to stop the most powerful magic users in Toronto could go awry? Even with a handful of pet serial killers. I love hearing Donner and Laura working together 💜

🚚  Don’t Tell Alice (1,7) This episode just raised the stakes in such a scary and well-crafted way! There’s a reason the NVP team have a podcast about learning how to write well - they KNOW how to write well!! Before this episode, the other America was unsettling, sure, but now it seems dangerous. I’m so excited to find out more. 

📖 @storiesfromylelmore (201) Aw this episode was so amazingly visual! I could imagine all the little spirits so clearly, as well as the broomstick riding! I also really loved the sound design with the privacy bubble, though I agree it would almost certainly be better with some fancy lighting. What a lovely start to the next season!
