HEADCANON TIME

In the episode Dreamscapers, Stan tells Soos a story about how he grew up and he claims he treats Dipper harshly so he wouldn’t be the same.

Stan: “The kid’s a loser. He’s weak. I just want to get rid of him. Yeah, those are all things people said about me when I was a kid.”

It then shows a series of flashbacks we learn to be false, including Stan throwing a left hook at a purse thief, his appearance resembling a stereotypical nerd (thus why we know it’s a fake memory, as Stan’s appearance didn’t look like that at that age in A Tale of Two Stans).

While the rest of Stan’s reason for going hard on Dipper can be supported (just wanting to give Dipper a backbone because Stan himself was pushed around)—what if it was more than that?

Like, maybe sometimes, he saw Ford in Dipper and let his grudge get the better of him?

omg but there was a commentary on ford’s lore where stanley reveals that they do switch places time to time to pretend to be each other so ford can get girls so i did think maybe the memory of stanley looking nerdy was actually him pretending to be ford—
