LOCAL PUBLIC RELATIONS PROFESSIONAL TO REPRESENT WALLA WALLA AREA ON PRSA GREATER SPOKANE CHAPTER BOARD.

Walla Walla, Wash. – July, 17th 2014 the PRSA Greater Spokane Chapter (www.prsaspokane.org) elected Jeff Wright, Partner and Public Relations Director at AMI Advertising Agency, to a four year, board of directors seat.

Mr. Wright will serve as a volunteer Director-at-Large, responsible for communications of the PRSA Greater Spokane Chapter. He sees this as an opportunity to involve more PR professionals and students from the Walla Walla and Tri-Cities areas seeking to advance their careers. The PRSA chapter in Spokane is a direct connection to the world’s largest public relations organization.

“Approximately one-third of the Spokane chapter membership isn’t located in the Spokane area. I see growing the membership in places like Walla Walla, Yakima and the Tri-Cities so that PR professionals can take advantage of the continuing education PRSA provides as well as networking and leadership opportunities,” said Mr. Wright.

Did Jos. A. Bank's Buy-1-Get-3-Free Suit Sales Make This Harsh 'SNL' Parody Inevitable?

'Saturday Night Live' debuts a harsh, funny spoof of Jos. A. Bank commercials, in the process slamming the suit maker for its cheap product.

This is the headline and into to a story written in Ad Age about the recent SNL skit about the Jos. A. Bank's buy 1-get-3-free sales event. It reminded me of the dangers of being sales focused 100% of the time and how always thinking about the next best sale can ultimately cheapen your brand name and the products you sell. 

Even if the product is of higher quality brands get so caught up in finding that lightning in the bottle sales event that they loose brand equity. With weed becoming legal in some states, the need for awareness campaigns will emerge more and more. Here is the first in a series of humorous ads about the dangers of DWI of marijuana from Colorado. 

I'm not sure who the agency is that created these awareness campaigns but hats off to the simplicity of the creative. No scripts just actions. Nice work!

Question of the day: How effective is "prankvertising"? 

Movies have had a great run at successfully executing prankvertising. Some notable successes are:

But what happens when a fast food giant like McDonalds tries their hand at prankverising? Hashtag...Fail! You see the reason why the above mentioned links worked so well is that they painted an undistracted story. They set the stage, built up the moment and unleashed a climactic rouse that sends peoples hearts a racing.

Georgia Lawyer Makes The Most Insane Local Super Bowl Ad! Flop or Hit You Decide

We have all heard of how much Super Bowl ads cost on a national level. We also are aware of the bragging rights that are involved if your brand pulls off an amazing Super Bowl spot. 

Locally advertisers can buy airtime during the Super Bowl, although still expensive it is well worth the cost as all eyes locally are on the tube. That's what this Georgia lawyer did, he bought his airtime and made a commercial. #Nissan Rogue Comes in Handy When You're Battling a Marauding Band of Evil Snowmen

I always find it interesting how major #brands develop all different types of creative for use in other countries. What would you think of Nissan if you saw this commercial in the states? Would the national organization of #snowmen for positive change be up in arms because Nissan is stereotyping snowmen? We all know snowmen can be angry because they are always cold. I know I can be terse when I'm cold. Enjoy this commercial it is really well done and deserves a view. - Jeff Wright Partner, Creative Director

Next time you're caught driving in a winter storm, Nissan Canada wants you to be grateful you're only dealing with the natural elements and not a supernatural mob of malicious snowmen who are hell bent on destroying everything around them.

Did anyone see this ad? Cheerios Takes Home Dubious Honor of Most Hated Ad During the #GoldenGlobes

The average person living in the city is exposed to 5000 ads a day. I think this commercial from Cheerios is one we could have done without. There is a fine line in emotionally connecting your audience to your product versus an all out cheap shot attempt to spur connectivity through deceased family members. 

Big brands and their creative agencies are failing to come up with originality. They fail to show us the features and benefits of their product or services and discount the audience's intelligence levels. 

Twitter is a tough crowd during any high-profile live TV programming, when snark levels always spike. Cheerios learned that the hard way during the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday when it aired a six-month-old commercial from Saatchi & Saatchi in New York that aimed for heartwarming but came off, to many, as depressing.

A story in #AdAge came out today, written by E.J. Schultz about Justin Timberlake leaving A-B InBev and joining Beam.

As an advertising agency dealing these types of opportunities, I have always had a personal opinion on celebrity endorsements for brands promoting products. Don’t do it! There are a few reasons why in my book. I will share my two biggest reasons.

A) It’s insulting to the us as a consumer. Show us why we need your brand, not the fact you paid some star a bazillon dollars to endorse your products.

B) There is nothing long-term about endorsements. As you can see by E.J.’s article that the JT deal lasted only a year and sales dropped during that time. Celebrities are like raccoons and shiny objects. The next big thing comes a long and they are endorsing your competitors, but you left on great terms and your still good friends.
