Giethoorn in Netherlands has no roads or any modern transportation at all, only canals. Well, and 176 bridges too. Tourists have to leave their cars outside of the village and travel here by foot or boat by. So you can probably imagine how peaceful it is here.

I don’t think people realize how much strength it takes to pull your own self out of an anxiety attack or a panic attack. So if you’ve done that today or any day, I’m proud of you.

I’ve only ever had one panic attack in my life, and it was at the consultation appointment with the ortho for my back surgery last year. I had no idea what was happening at the time but later that evening I described the episode to a friend who has anxiety, they told me it was a panic attack, and holy fuck it was hell on earth. My little sister also has undiagnosed anxiety and I regularly see the effects it has on her day to day from witnessing it first hand and talking her through flare ups over text messages (she lives an hour away). 

I have nothing but respect for people who deal with chronic anxiety every single day of their lives because they’re fucking warriors, as are people who have any chronic mental or physical illness. I have chronic health problems due to nerve damage that negatively affect my day to day life, but I know it’s nothing compared to what some people have to deal with. I try to remind myself of that when it’s at its worst.
