I quit my job in February, I had applied to an LGBT nonprofit position in January and stayed busy. I have great references from the long hours of volunteering. But I have no actual work history. Then I got an interview. Then a final interview with the CEO.

And now I'm officially employed in LGBT nonprofit, like I wanted and dreamed of. It's a hard position and very physical. But I'm excited and I'm excited to keep coming back. And I'm gonna learn so much and grow so much. It's a long drive. I'll move eventually.

I'm so grateful to the people I love for helping me get here and start building a career. I never thought I'd be able to say that. Now I'm getting paid to do what I love! And there's still so much to be done!

Anyways that's my news.

Also I would like to try dating again someday. I won't focus on it. I'll just be open to it. That sounds really nice. I haven't in a long time and they were very mean to me but things are different now and I'm stronger. I would like to hold hands with another man who wants to hold hands with me.

Mycelium is the vegetative part of a fungus that makes a threadlike hyphae. It is similar to the roots of a plant. Mycelium is vital to soil health, nutrient cycling and ecosystem balance.

I volunteered for another event today. I canvassed all morning with my friend who is running for City Commissioner, and then I went straight to a pageant to be an usher.

The director of the ASO I volunteer went up and started describing a community member in the nicest ways, and so generously. Everything they've done and shown up for. And I'm looking around at my friends wondering who it could be because they're all so amazing and work SO hard. It could be any of them and any of them would deserve it.

And then she said my name. And pulled me on stage. And handed me that framed award with my name on it. I struggled to process everything. I was just there to help people to their seats. I was there to stand in the back and jump in when needed.

All I could say was "Thank you for letting me be here. I'll be here for a long time." And that's true. I'll be here for a long time. I've never practiced what I would say in this circumstance because I never think it's going to be me.

Wow.

Also I quit my job last week so this feels like a real quick sign that I was right to trust myself in that. To get back into my spaces and work harder than ever. To show up even more.

Happy Valentine's Day to my first and truest love - the community that sees me and allows me to give myself to them.
