My thought shall not be actions
The hardest part about facing our deamons is not admitting we have them. No, that’s the easiest part. The hard part is having the courage to change, and to not default back to the person who we know we shouldn’t be, or the actions that calm us despite knowing they are wrong. We can all think, feel and say what is destructive in our lives, and we have all poured out our heart and soul to another, somehow thinking that this act alone will be enough. What we don’t do is stop when we know the deamons are coming back. Even as they travel home to our darkest places, we acknowledge them and realise they will hurt. But when they arrive, we embrace them and house them once more. It’s like we are under some kind of self inflicted illusion, and that the thought of being free is too scary to bare beyond the point of acknowledgment.
