years go by and spider-man remains the most relatable character
seeing people spread misinformation online genuinely makes me furious at this point like at a certain point your refusal to background check things that can have a meaningful impact on other people and the communities and society you live in before posting about or sharing them where they can be seen by potentially thousands of people becomes malicious inaction at best
this isn't even about anything specific i see examples of this on a regular basis and have for years and it's only getting worse. and while this is definitely in no small part a result of corporate censorship and algorithms designed to only show you what those who control and fund them want you to see and make you have to work harder to seek out anything else, if you can't or won't fact check claims that actually have a real world effect on people's opinions, ways of thinking and perceiving the world and other people around them then you should not be sharing or posting about them, because you are not taking the necessary responsibility for your impact. and if you intentionally deny people access to resources that could help inform them about the claims you are trying to make or spread awareness of, you are actively and intentionally causing harm and should not be platformed. like it or not, there is a responsibility that comes with sharing information and the bare minimum you should be willing to do is accept that and be ready to be questioned and provide evidence to back up your claims.
basically, normalize critical thinking. normalize and encourage questioning what people tell you and engaging in nuanced, respectful discussions about it where all parties are open to listening to and learning from one another and changing how they think about things if necessary. normalize and encourage avoiding, stepping away from, and refusing to give further attention to people who will not meet these terms and instead seek to convince you of something by talking over you, wearing you down, guilt tripping you, denying you access to all the available information and the ability to evaluate and draw your own conclusions about it, and otherwise not respecting you or others. normalize and encourage this with all people, movements and groups you encounter, not just those you object to and/or which explicitly seek to harm you.

believe it or not, the concepts βthe representation in rick riordanβs books is often incredibly lacking and even problematic at timesβ and βdespite that, he still wrote representation when no one else was doing it and it appears to have been a sincere effort on his partβ can both be true. yes, there are major issues with some characters and their writing like nico and samirah. but it seems to have been a genuine effort that just wasnβt researched enough. idk i didnβt explain it well enough but i hope the point got across.

No offense but the internet gives you the most wrong and fucked up idea of helping people because people get mad if you don't care about disasters happening in 72 countries, meanwhile the people in real life that are doing the most good picked one VERY SPECIFIC thing to care about and care about it REALLY HARD
