She felt his arms wrap about her and pull her in close, it surprised her more then anything else. But she couldn’t hide the flush in her cheeks, she still had and might always have some feelings for Sonic. Emotions dredged up all the more by her old memories. She didn’t fight it though, falling against him and pressing her muzzle into the crook of his neck. She just let him hold her, eyes closing and for a moment at least she felt very safe. Just like she use to one ever he’d scoop her up and wisk her to safety. He need not worry, she didn’t ever want to do anything as foolish as end her life—but she did often think the world would have been better if she’d got to stay with her family that day. But she knew how foolish that was, and selfish to.
She let her eyes open to look up at him, she could see how hard it was for him as he wanted to make her better. But it wasn’t that easy, no one could magic away he Trauma hell they all had some. Sonic most of all, he was the lone hero holding the world up on his shoulders and baring it all. She knew there were things he would never tell anyone, but she could always tell when it got to much for him. Sometimes he’d run off to be alone or other times he’d hide behind his silly jokes. But no one was an island, and everyone had there limitations. Sonic most of all, and yet there was little she could do to help him.
She placed her hand on his chest and felt the beat of his heart as if it might soothe he troubled heart. She could only smile at his little speech, and she wondered how often he ignored his own words and pressed on despite not being ok. She was sure he did it all to often, and she’d scold him for it if she wasn’t guilty of the same thing. But that was the truth of a Hero wasn’t it? They fought and bore the wounds so others wouldn’t have to. To make the world brighter for everyone else even if they never got to see the sun shine again.
“ I know you and the others will always be there for me, Just like i’ll always be here for you …”
She whispered in a soft tone
“ I might always have break downs like this, I might never really get better…. but as long as i have you guys i’ll always come back. I just need time… i need your warmth and hope… “
“ It’s Ok ….to Not be Ok… as long as we promise to be better tomorrow… “
“ It did… That’s what War Does, there are no winners… only losers. But when you hold me like this…i…..almost forget how the sorrow. “
She laughed softly almost with a hint of madness
“ … I was so in Love with you as a little girl… but here right now, like this… i can almost feel that fire rekindle… even if i know its a hopeless dream “
A soft smile made it’s way onto his lips as he listened to Amy speak. That’s right. They would always be there for her, and she would always be there for them. It’s what friend groups do. They stick together. Through thick and thin. Good times and bad. And boy, were there a lot of bad times right now.
Could he even say that though? When he was the one gone for six months. Don’t even think that, you know that wasn’t your fault.
Besides, it’s been years since that happened.

He bit his lower lip and sucked in a breath through his nostrils. A hopeless dream. Oh how he hoped she didn’t feel the way his heart throbbed when she spoke those words. Truth be told, there had always been a flame there. At least for Sonic. After all the years of running away, dodging advances, even while dating someone else. That flame never stopped burning, and her words only made it burn brighter.
And yet, he couldn’t bring himself to speak up. To say something. A lump of fear wedged itself firmly into his throat, making it hard for him to breathe. That really was the cause of it: fear. He was so afraid of stopping. So afraid of slowing down. So afraid of losing control. So afraid of hurting someone as dear to him as Amy. He couldn’t possibly risk what they had. Their friendship. What would she do if she found out about his...condition? About the monster living inside his head, waiting to come out and strike.

“SHUT UP!” Sonic belted out. Quills bristled and he clenched his jaw.
“Wh-wait!” His face paled, hands quickly held her shoulders, almost too tightly. “I’m sorry. That wasn’t directed at you. I didn’t mean--” He groaned, pulling back and holding his head. His breath quickened. Arms trembled. He looked on the verge of a panic attack.
“Shit, I gotta get out of here.” He stood, wobbling, still holding his head. Sweat began to bead on his face, hands going clammy. Chaos energy buzzed around him, threatening to crackle the atmosphere.
