another calamity thought that i have like. every day. is that patia cast teleport in the finale. she cast teleport. she had that spell, she had access to it, she had the slot for it. she went off by herself and she cast teleport. and she used it to send all of her knowledge to a child who was safe, a child she trusted.

but the thing is. the thing is. she could have teleported herself. she could have so easily gone off alone, spoken to her grandfather’s statue, and left. left avalir, gone somewhere far away. do you understand. she could have left. she had the spell she had the slot. and patia por’co, instead, sent her knowledge and her memories and a small reminder of what the city once was to a girl who could make something better, and she fought and died with her friends, her family.

she could have left. and yet, i think, she always knew that she couldn’t.

This is so terrifically sad, but I can’t help but commend Brennan for rewarding Travis. He did possibly one of the most taboo things in D&D, he left the party, and he was rewarded for it. He got to save his family. Because this isn’t a normal campaign. This is a tragedy, and heroism gets you nothing. Selfishness, as contradictory as it seems, is the most useful trait.

AND THE THING IS—because I know how that last sentence sounds—HE WASN’T SELFISH. HE WAS THE LEAST SELFISH OUT OF ALL OF THEM. ITS LITERALLY THE LAST THING HE SAID BEFORE HE LEFT BECAUSE EVERYONE ELSE WAS TOO SELFISH AND BLINDED BY GLORY AND NYDAS TRIED TO SAVE TOO MUCH but Travis WASN’T and he was rewarded. The Sightwarden, perhaps the only non-visionary in that room, gave us a single thread of hope for the future.

the characterisation of hobie brown ... i was SO worried they'd water him down to a love triangle fill in but NO!!! he's a supportive friend, number one hype man, loyal to his morals, mischievous ... he's so quick to help miles and outright refuses to go against him AND gives gwen his portal watch so she can go back him up.
