If you love deeply, you’re going to get hurt badly. But it’s still worth it.

Years of getting rejected does not make each rejection easier. If anything it makes it harder because each time you’re just reminded about the previous ones. But still you continue to try, you continue to reach out, to hope for some reciprocal feelings - this is the brave side of you. You are so strong. I see it, even if nobody else does.
There is beauty in listening, beauty and power. When we take the time to lay down our own agenda and listen to others, we see the wounds and sorrows of others. We begin to notice a world outside of our own, one that needs empathetic and loving people. Too often we demand that our voices be heard, but in the end, people just want to be known. Being known by someone has tremendous repercussions that can heal and rebuild a broken life, it says to them “I’m here and I see you truly.” Being known means someone else KNOWS us, not only do they realize we exist, they realize we matter. Take the time to listen, to know those around you. It’s a gift that few in this life want to give, but one that everyone desires deeply. When we know one another, we do not fight, we protect and take care of one another. That’s a lovely and wonderful thing that we should all strive to do daily.

I think the strongest prayer I’ve ever prayed is a single phrase I declared with complete honesty: God, I have no idea what you’re doing, but I trust you.

Watch this: you will never get alone in that place and find that time to be with Him and actually run to that place and live in that place and look forward to that place if you never see and truly believe how He sees you.

Anyone who has actually been that sad can tell you that there’s nothing beautiful or literary or mysterious about depression.

Inside every adult is a vulnerable part that never really grows up. Most of us are too afraid of disapproval or rejection to express our deeper feelings. We worry that “if you knew all about me, you wouldn’t like me”. We’re certain that others are happier, wiser, more fulfilled. We cannot risk being compared unfavorably. But withholding our emotions makes healthy communication impossible and creates distance in relationships. The part we hold back our authentic selves constitutes the very richness that others would find appealing. There is hidden power, and magnetism, in vulnerability and in the willingness to share deeper feelings, whether to express love or to acknowledge fears and needs. The most difficult time to express vulnerability is when you’re in love. Many are concerned about being too dependent on their partners for attention and love. They have a fear of appearing desperate or ridiculous. This is nonsense. Sharing with others how important they are to you makes them more loving and loyal, more thoughtful about your needs. When you are honest and open, you will find others inviting you into their private worlds. Think about the people you enjoy and admire. They are not super-beings. They err, they cry, they despair. They are real and vulnerable human beings.
