IT HASN’T ONLY BEEN time that has allowed them to grow this close. lina’s kind, and so is agnes, even if helping her grow out of her shell had been a process. she is glad tho — glad this is where they are now, two puzzle pieces making sense together. the universe works in funny ways and lina is certain there was a reason the two girls have found each other: and with each other, the respect, the support, the adoration. and always, as is with lina, the soothing. there is no wound that cannot heal.
« sure, i’ll text, » she promises with a simple smile. it is just lucky that her late shifts corresponds so perfectly with agnes’ early mornings. day and night, come to co-exist. « tell lydia hi from me. » and then there’s a pause as the girl’s eyes wander over her surroundings, only to roam back to her roommate. « i think maybe i’ll stay a little longer. the sunrise through the branches really is a sight, huh ? »
— THERE WAS SOMETHING COMFORTING IN KNOWING lina was in her life. it had been such a long time of only having one person be her entire universe that the breath of fresh air that was her closest friend sometimes felt euphoric. both of them had dealt with a lot, and along the way built something secure with each other. agnes would be lying if she said that lina wasn’t the most important person in her life. still, the fact that she couldn’t help lina the way lina had always seemed to help her bothered her sometimes. it seemed unfair, somehow, that agnes would have this endless support and somehow lack in giving it back.
though, as lina started talking about the beautiful morning, agnes couldn’t help but smile. “it is,” she agreed. “it’s peaceful, isn’t it ? makes you forget about everything for a while and just enjoy it.” for a little while neither of them moved, agnes still holding onto lina’s hand. “i don’t know why i like the morning so much. maybe because it’s always a new beginning. a whole day, filled with new opportunities.”
