“Do you think you could write a poem about how to tell if you miss someone?”
My mother always told me that after every storm the sun eventually comes out to warm up your mind from all of the tragedy. But the problem is the storm is over, the sun has been out for weeks, and the problem is every time I try to let it’s light caress me, I feel it burning black holes into my skin. I guess I’m not the type of person that feels better because of the sun. I’m the type of person who stands too long under beautiful things hoping that it’ll calm the storm inside of me, but I just hope too much that it’ll work even when I sense it wouldn’t, and eventually I just get burned.
— Alexa Evangelista, The Book I’ll Never Finish Writing
“You’re not in love with me, not really, you just love the way I always made you feel. Like you were the centre of my world. Because you were. I would have done anything for you”
— Abby McDonald
“There’s so much more to life than finding someone who will want you, or being sad over someone who doesn’t. There’s a lot of wonderful time to be spent discovering yourself without hoping someone will fall in love with you along the way, and it doesn’t need to be painful or empty. You need to fill yourself up with love. Not anyone else. Become a whole being on your own. Go on adventures, fall asleep in the woods with friends, wander around the city at night, sit in a coffee shop on your own, write on bathroom stalls, leave notes in library books, dress up for yourself, give to others, smile a lot. Do all things with love, but don’t romanticize life like you can’t survive without it. Live for yourself and be happy on your own. It isn’t any less beautiful, I promise.”
