A smile wins. I was going to create a master piece photo here framing the patrons at the Art gallery watching the framing of the outside world as they sit in the gallery. But then this happened!! She pops in and smiles! I have some amazing pics collected on my camera but none can express the joy happiness, innocence and pleasure that this smile contains. It's boundless energy, it's love and optimism all within this toothy grin. 😀 Sometimes we (meaning I and maybe one or two of you) get caught up in searching for all the the beauty in the world when it is standing right in front of us, and may not need a picture at all, as its there reminding us all the time. #art #smiles #smile #people #love #family #artgallery #artgalleryofnsw @artgalleryofnsw @maddybrown121 #sydney #australia #awakening (at Art Gallery of New South Wales)

It's 845pm I did my first writing at 7am and then dashed to training and was thrashed for 30 mins (light session) then work again! I have written scripts, a job ad arranged 3 meetings, visited a clients site, places a face book ad, phone catch ups with three key contacts, developed an online form and in between grabbed the girls from school - massive day - and I LOVE it! Give me days like this where I work and I know it has meaning. Give me hard work. Fuck the idea of get rich quick - please jump on that band wagon and ride it till you have saddle sore! Those of you waiting for your moment to be recognized or waiting till the moments right or better still waiting developing a better lifestyle - thank you and don't mind as I run past you! I love these big days where I am spent and tired and it takes My magnificent wife to text me saying "come on it's time to come home" for me to even know it is dark outside and I better head home to bed - Because if I sleep now I can do it all again tomorrow! #business #work #fitfam #fitspo #inspo #inspiration #workhardplayhard #businessman #facebook #motivation #instadaily
Breakfast at the boathouse today. This is a brilliant little spot. Great vibe, some cool tunes and the views can be amazing. Grab a seat on the back jetty (you almost need to stalk these spots) and sit over the ocean and watch the boats travel the Pittwater. Pop it on your lunch and breakfast list for 2016! Warning!! Public holidays and busy weekends despite stacks of parking you may still struggle to get a spot! Get here early! Travelers tips: wear a white shirt if you'd like to fit in 😉 Veggie Breakfast with salmon or add your protein was good but very brown rice driven for those #paleo driven little punters. Bacon and egg roll was big and juicy! #travel #sydney #fitfam #fitspo #australia #brownfamily #brownfarm #exploresydney #australia #traveller (at The Boathouse Palm Beach)
Getting thrown under a bus! So your at work and you're caught. The headlights are bearing down on you. Those lights are bright. They are on YOU no one else but you, but hang on there's a way out of here. You throw some one anyone, you "throw them under the bus" "Throw under the bus" To throw (someone) under the bus is an idiomatic phrase in American English meaning to sacrifice a friend or ally for selfish reasons. It is typically used to describe a self-defensive disavowal and severance of a previously-friendly relationship when the relation becomes controversial or unpopular" https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Throw_under_the_bus So your safe phew! "You know I saw (enter name of unsuspecting friend / work colleague) do that ......" "I spoke to (enter lamb to slaughter) about it ......" "It wasn't me but I tell you what I saw" Yes Bub you know it, the language of a thrower "under the bus you go" they may as well scream! So you maybe safe, you may escape the bright light. Yup you could get away with it, but you know that trucks gunna keep going till it hits some one right ..... No come on, you do don't you" So now that you've dodged the bus like an agile bunny you look back and see that bus run over and annihilate those you've left in the lights meant for you. "Sorry ? They asked me to do what ?" "I remember chatting to them but I don't remember ....." "What are you talking about?" SPLAT! Now it kind of depends on who you are and where your headed as to whether you ever hear about that truck again. If your an average sociopath, that sneaky 3% of guys or 1% of females this will roll over you like a feather beating a prize fighter (yeah I know I was lost on the whole bus analogy thing) but if your not and I'm guessing from those figures you're most likely one of the 90+ percent of "others" this may come round for you to see again. Yes baby this trucks on a round about and guess where it's headed. The scene ahead; If you're a friend, how do you think your besties going to relate when they find out it was you who decided to point your rather large finger at them ? Should the word come round to that lamb, that the person leading them to the butchers knife was you. How good are you with blood on your hands? Now if your work colleague finds out it could be tricky, but what happens when your boss realises your a thrower? hmmm is there any other times you've thrown someone ? No! But how do they really know, there's always that sticky doubt from here on in. Oops I can see those lights again. Now I am no expert on ethics and yes I am putting my hand up as a bus dodger. So I think I speak with life's lessons under my belt and a reasonable dose of tyre tread fatigue! I think the bus is gentler on the first roll over. Surely you, them, we , us all, value you your up front approach? "Yup I fucked that up" "Sorry I should have been more on my game" "I can only apologise " They all have this deflating but honourable twang to them. Don't you get the feeling that those words have have some capacity to take the brunt of the bus, but maybe as it slowly glides to a safe braking distance in front of you? Maybe it's best I leave you with the words of one much wiser than I will ever be. "The one thing I would like to leave my children is an honourable name" Theodore Roosevelt. "According to Wikipedia, the DSM IV-TR gives the prevalence of psychopathy as 3% in males and 1% in females. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ant...)

Another day
I was up at 5am again today – WHY Because I get excited about what we do – I think to my self every day I am making peoples lives better! We are helping kids love sport again We are helping grand dads play soccer with their grandsons We are helping elderly ladies feel its safe because they are now sturdy and strong with this new found confidence they head to the garden more or visit friends more often simply leaving the house! Is there a better reason to get out of bed?
Client liaison officer
Seriously who gives people these titles?
Build people
I build my team to be stronger smarter and faster than me. I let them know that any thing is possible. That dreaming is not wasted time. I guide them coach and encourage them. I live for the moment when I no longer need to push them. But they push me.
Take credit but accept mistakes!
I stuffed it! I made an error when designing my patients orthoses - I’d had a couple of weeks off from design due to a computer blowing up. I think this meant my “eye” wasn’t in - so to speak! I designed them wrong and when I fitted them I realised immediately . Rather than hide it I told the patient and her mum straight away “they aren’t good enough” I said “I stuffed them”. I could have made some ridiculous mistake - flicked the blame to others but in the end if I do something right I get pats in the back so if I do some thing wrong I need to shoulder that as well. Patients mums response - “thanks so much for being honest” “I will remake them for you” I replied She smiled, I smiled - everyone’s happy. A quick simple acknowledgment of an error and it is fixed and everyone’s happy!
More to come
I love it too much to stop I never think it's good enough I know where I have come from, but I see clearly where I am headed We aren't there yet. Source: Me 😊
I speak to my students and team about WHY we are “here.” Something I didn’t perhaps consider I just “did” until Simon Sineks ( http://www.ted.com/speakers/simon_sinek ) great speech inspired me to consider the WHY of what I am here for. For me it quickly became clear I wanted to “help families to stay happy healthy and active” it why I do all the things I do. It quickly became the Vision for our business. With that in mind this video fits in really well yet again - it’s why I am drawn to find these gems. We need to teach our kids from a young age about healthy choices so they can become healthy adults.
Why am I a podiatrist
I am a podiatrist not to fix feet, nor to cure ills. I am a podiatrist to help my patients
Climb mountains …. To run races…. Explore villages….. To chase grand children …. Find adventure ….. To visit new places …… Travel the world …… To win grand finals ……
it’s more than feet
Treat not cheap !
Lord I am tired of seeing under serviced patients! Yes I said under serviced. Like you there is nothing that riles me up like over servicing, it gives a profession - any by the way - a bad name. So before any one starts accusing me of asking people to over service I say again I loath it - not on, and only brings trouble to those that perpetuate it. Ok enough said !
I had a young Pod see a patient at the clinic, he had recently left meaning I was the one responsible for taking care of their orthotic check. The patient came in and was less than impressed. The orthotics while helping didn’t seem to be doing the job she had hoped and she seemed disillusioned.
So I asked did they offer you any soft tissue therapy ? - NO! Did they talk to you about buying new shoes - NO! hmmmmm Did they talk to you about wearing your shoes more often ……NOPE !
You see 9/10 times pod sadly young and old won’t tell their patient what they really think they need (you’d think it would be simple wouldn’t you) No because most pods have mistakenly decided they are either financial advisers for their patients or have entered the clergy and now are here to help their flock ! In simple language they dont want to charge the patient so they don’t provide them with the full gamete of treatment.
But no, my good podiatry friends no one has made you their financial planner nor when they attend the appointment with you are they entering a church and asking for your charity ! Here’s an idea: given they came to see you and decided to spend money to get better, these people may actually hope you will provide them the very very best of care !
I had a thought about this and I asked a friend of mine who is an orthopaedic surgeon about his care. So the conversation went something like this - you operate on shoulders and knees - Yes. (phew off to a good start) When was the last time someone asked you for a discount (A stunned look then burst into laughter) Your kidding yes …ok yes I suppose I am. Ok so do your patients shop around for price? No people who value their health don’t shop around for price, they come to me for quality care I provide them with the very best I can offer - care that matches their needs. Wow now all that sounds bloody sane and sensible doesn’t it - and really not that hard.
So back to the patient. I explained that I felt that the best therapy for the condition they had presented with was actually a combination of the orthoses and a series of soft tissue session. I also explained that I felt that we would like them to get some new shoes as the ones they had really were too old and needed replacing - we would advise them of the shoes that were best for them and their foot type. Finally I advised that I would really like them to wear the shoes all the time, I gave them my broken foot analogy meaning ALL the time.
Two weeks later at one of those soft tissue therapy appointments with our massage therapist I asked how are you going ? “Sooooo much better. Thanks so much I went straight out and got new shoes and this is my second session of soft tissue and my pain is already at half that what it was.” “That’s great I am really glad we have you on the right track” I said. She replied “So am I. I am just not sure why they didn’t do this in the first place”
Nor am I …… Nor am I ……. Oh heavenly father.
Some days my patients make me smile!
