Fire Salts
I don’t always want actual flames when I’m using the element of fire in my work, and some people can’t have fire where they practice. This is part green witchery, and part kitchen witchery. The good thing about this is that it can be made so it’s 100% edible, and can be used in cooking, or spells where you might want to eat or drink the spell when you’re done.
You’ll need:
2 parts sea salt
1 part paprika
1 part red pepper
1 part garlic
I like to throw them all in a dry pan and heat them real quick while I mix them up. Just enough to get some of the energy and intent from the flame into the mix. The salt is just the base, it holds the energy from everything else in a real nice way, and makes it perfect for using as a spice. The paprika, red peppers, and garlic are all tied to the element fire. They’re all warming spices, and have the same effect as a fire. In small amounts, when controlled, this is a warming spice that adds just a bit of heat. Too much though, and it can burn.
These can be used to represent the element of fire at your altar, circle, as an offering, ect…anything where you might want a lit candle, you could use a jar, pinch, or pile of fire salt. Anything where you want to add the properties of fire to a spell, you can add some fire salt. Want more passion? Add a pinch of fire salt. Need some creativity and inspiration? Just a dash will do. Want to curse some jerk head? Fire salts can help you out. I also like them for protection spells and warding.
“Feeling Unwelcome” Curse
(written for nightshadeandroses)
This spell is made to make your target feel uncomfortable and paranoid, and essentially force them out of a space.
You’ll need:
Fire salt (pomegranateandivy has a great recipe)
googly eyes
glue
a small jar
representation of your target (messages from them should work fine)
Glue the googly eyes to the inside top of the jar, and around the inside of the jar if you can manage it. In the jar, put your fire salt. I recommend heating them on the stove first, like pomegranateandivy suggests, just for the extra kick. Put the representation in the jar. Bury it face up in the salt. Shake the jar a bit, and focus your energy on “turning the heat up”. Imagine them squirming, pulling on their collar like an interrogation. Screw the lid on, letting them know that eyes are on them, always.
Keep the jar someplace safe. Shake every time you want to revitalize the curse. Empty the jar and pry off the eyes when you decide the curse is up.
Okay, so I'm looking to curse someone for the first time, but I need help. My target abused me since I was a child, and since then I've been diagnosed with ptsd because of him. He was psychically and emotionally abusive towards my mother and I, but I was never sexually abused by him. I've been away from him for 3 years, but it is still very painful because of the ptsd. Could you help me get started? (also is there anything i need to know before cursing someone for the first time?)
Hey there anon! I’m so sorry to hear about your traumatic experiences with this person, and I hope that I’ll be able to help you out here.
The first step that you should take is to decide whether or not you want to cast a curse. It sounds silly, since you’ve already asked about it, but it is important that you really feel confident in your decision. There is absolutely nothing wrong with cursing those who have wronged you in my opinion, but you should still be sure that you have that confidence so that your magick work isn’t negatively affected.
Also - casting a curse usually will, by its very nature, force you to think about why you are cursing the target. If you feel that your mental health may decide to mess with you, don’t panic - or, well, DO panic, and then get angry about it. Anger is great for curses (imho), and if this guy is a root of your symptoms, then don’t stress if they pop up in a curse. Or, well you know - DO stress, and then use it lol However, I do definitely recommend that you take a mental health day (or moment) beforehand to just remind yourself that you are in control here, you are the one with the power, and you are about to smite his ass senseless, so help ye gods. It will help, trust me <3
Beyond that, make sure that you are grounded and protected before you cast a curse (or any spell, period). Here are a couple of resources regarding that:
A Crash Course in Warding (by elvenwitch)
Be Prepared For An Attack - Witchcraft Style (by windvexer)
Personal Shielding (by askkittann)
Protection Spells: Ground, Center, & Shield (by learninghowtofeelthesun)

And before I actually recommend any curses, here are two more great posts to read before casting any curses:
Cursing 101 (by recreationalwitchcraft)
Misfired Curses & How to Avoid Them (by queerkitchenwitch)
Self-Care After Cursing (by a-witch-named-lyd)
Now, for this particular situation, I would highly recommend this curse:
“To The Bottom of the Ocean” - A Curse for the Mistreated, and Misused (by honey-amber)
I think that spell fits closest to your experiences and what you want to gain from casting a curse here. Also it calls for pretty simple (yet effective) ingredients compared to many other curses. However, if you’re looking for something a little more hardcore (I’m honestly not sure if you are or not!), you can also check out:
“The Devil Tied Me Down” Curse (by oldmotherredcap)
“Like Pulling Teeth” Agony Curse (by feather-set)
And you may also be interested in shadow-dragons-grimoire‘s “Crush Their Balls” Curse as well.
Lastly!

on my way to get ideas for an object head oc, I got w ay too many ideas and wanted to draw them all so naturally,, thats what I did aNd I’m giving them to my friends sO I was planning on doing them digitally but I don’t have it in me so forgive me for the sketches,, on the left is a flask who wears their strap as a scarf, for @thatonebirdnerd! the oil lamp next to them is for @brickbarf! the pocket watch with a shark tattoo is for @yogurt-lord! the flower bud is mine!! and the buff doll head is for @terristre!
The actual smell of rain comes from plants. When plants are in drought they produce oils in replacement for waters. When the time comes and it finally starts raining the plants get their needed water and they release these oils in the air and the smell of that oil is what we call smell of rain
the scent is called petrichor
It’s also accompanied by geosmin, a by-product of certain actinobacteria found in wet soil. I mean, dirt totally has a smell and wet dirt definitely has a smell. It’s these two compounds, the oils from plants and the by-products in dirt that produce this awesome smell! Science! ^_^

DIY Witchery Resources
Because tumblr now only allows 250 links on a page or some nonsense like that, here’s my DIY Witchery Resource page broken down. It’s not all of, but I did as much as I could for now:
Part 1: Info about me, and my blog, my thoughts on building a secular witchcraft practice, Witchling info and some thoughts on how to get started studying witchcraft, Problems with the general New Age and pagan community including cultural appropriation and their “grabby hands” approach to things they perceive as exotic.
Part 2: Magical Mechanics, Skepticism, Misconceptions about Witchcraft, and Secular Witchcraft
Part 3: Posts about different Kinds Of Spells, and also Witchy Tips
Part 4: General Spell List
Part 5: Cleansing, Anti-Negativity, Wards, and Protection Spells
Part 6: Curses, because sometimes curses just level the playing field
Part 7: Magical Brainstorming and more Witchy Tips
Part 8: Energy Works and Sigils
Part 9: Crafts and DIY Witchy Stuff
There was more on the original page but this is all I’m able to get to now. Hopefully some day I’ll be able to add the rest and add more as these are at least 2 years old and there’s been some fun witchy stuff on tumblr in the last few years.
Limited Witchcraft Masterpost
So you live in a place that limits your uses of things typically associated with spell casting. Maybe you’re in a dorm, an apartment with indoor sprinklers or are simply not in a place where you can practice openly. Don’t worry, we got your back.
