I am an introvert, a geek, and I am head over heels for our favorite Kiwi, Karl Urban! I love to write, but what I write is strictly Karl characters paired with an OC or a fem!reader. Masterlist Masterlist 2
😬 Well, this is a little concerning... they'd better not try to make the movie without him! If they have to wait a little longer to start filming then so be it. McCoy is just as important of a character to Star Trek as Kirk and Spock.
There’s a post out here somewhere that talks about even the people who don’t like the AOS all agree that Karl’s performance was nearly flawless. They’d be insane to go forward without him. But now I’m scared they will 😭😭😭
You Know What They Say About Assuming: Chapter 1 (REWRITE)
Who?: Leonard "Bones" McCoy x Reader
What?: Y’know, Doctor, it’s a good thing I like watching your lips move; otherwise, I might never hear anything you say.”
“Lieutenant, that is highly illogical, as you have no history of hearing problems.”
“Ignore her, Spock.”
“Oh, it’s not a hearing problem, Commander. It’s a concentration problem. I find the good doctor’s looks are completely unfair and entirely too perfect to ignore.”
“Lieutenant, might I remind you that you are not there to flirt.”
“My apologies, Captain.” Bones’ eyes flashed with anger, and his jaw clenched to avoid throwing his tricorder. Boy, you had really done it this time.

Three tension-filled hours later, you finally found yourself being beamed back onto the Enterprise. Leonard wouldn’t even look at you as you moved into position to wait for Scotty. Just one glance at his clenched jaw and the damn near snarl on his face had you decide to make your exit as quickly as possible as soon as you got back. However, the doctor seemed to have other plans.
“Lieutenant, report to my office.” Doctor McCoy’s voice rang out before you could even step off the pad. You turned to face him, intending to protest, but the anger practically radiating from him gave no room for argument. You sighed heavily before replying.
“Yes, doctor.” You gestured for him to lead the way, nearly missing the way his eyes flashed at your response. “After you, sir.” You said. He shook his head and scoffed.
“Oh no, I’ll meet you there. I’m going to go get the captain.” He pointed towards the door, and you could feel the blood draining from your face. Shit.
A nurse was sitting at the desk across from Doctor McCoy’s office as you approached. A warm smile graced her features as she looked up and saw you. “Lieutenant (Y/L/N)! What can we do for you today?” She asked as she grabbed a data padd. You felt your cheeks heat up slightly as you waved her off.
“Doctor McCoy asked me to meet him in his office. I suspect he’s finally gotten tired of my antics.” You gave a nervous laugh. To your surprise, the nurse smiled sympathetically and gave you a pat on the shoulder.
“Ahh, I see. Don’t worry too much. The doctor is quite the grump, but usually the captain can talk him down from any serious actions.” She said. You gave her a small smile and nodded. “You can go ahead in and wait,” She leaned in close and spoke lowly. “You might even have time to steal a glass of the bourbon he keeps in his desk.” She winked as she finished. You managed a half-hearted laugh before stepping through the door to the small office. Your body seemed to deflate as the door slid shut behind you, leaving you with some time to gather your thoughts. You could practically hear your family now, your sister getting engaged the same day you get kicked back to the academy for inappropriate conduct with a superior officer. Your face began to heat up as you kicked yourself mentally. They always said your mouth was going to get you into trouble.
“Bones why are you dragging me into this?” You could hear the captain’s voice coming through the door, and you quickly swiped at a stray tear and took a deep breath to prepare yourself. “Just because you’re too closed minded to give her a chance-”
“Enough, Jim!” The door to the office slid open, revealing a fuming Leonard McCoy and an altogether too amused Jim Kirk.
“Captain.” You said, instinctively moving to attention. Jim crack a smile and waved you off.
“At ease, Lieutenant. You’re not being sent home today.” He said. Relief flowed through you, but before you could relax, Doctor McCoy dropped the PADD he was carrying on his desk.
“Jim-” He began in a warning tone. Kirk rolled his eyes and crossed his arms.
“Bones I am not sending a valuable crew member back to the academy just because you can’t handle a little flirting.” Jim said. For a moment, you thought the doctor was going to explode, but he seemed to catch himself and just sighed in resignation instead.
“Fine. But hear me very clearly, cause I ain’t repeating this again. I know you two are young and that what you’re doing is more and more common, but I’m just an old country doctor. I don’t- it’s not my thing. So kindly just leave me out of your relationship.” He said and continued on before you had time to be confused. “Lieutenant I will be writing you a warning, be glad it’s not an actual reprimand-” You started to cry out in outrage, but Jim just placed a hand on your shoulder and stepped in front of you.
“Hold on just a minute Bones. What the hell are you talking about, our relationship?” Leonard rolled his eyes and scowled deeper.
“Jim everyone on this ship knows you two are together.” Both you and Jim looked at him like he’d lost his mind. Leonard growled in frustration; a sound you had to fight to pretend didn’t affect you. “I can’t believe I have to explain to y’all how not subtle y’all are. You,” He pointed towards Jim as he spoke. “Never stop talkin about her. (Y/n) this and (y/n) that and don’t she look nice today. It’s non stop. And you,” Leonard turned his attention to you. “Frettin over him like a damn hen, I thought you were gonna lose when he came back from whatever that hell hole was with that arrow in his back. Now I may be just a doctor but I ain’t blind. If you’re trying to keep it secret that you’re sleepin together y’all are failing miserably.” He finished and crossed his arms. Kirk blinked, too stunned for words, it seemed before turning to you with an incredulous expression.
“Well this is just plain awkward considering our good friend here pulled me from a vidcall with my brother to have this meeting.” He said.
“What does that have do with anythin’?” Leonard cut in, but Jim just held up a finger.
“What’d she say?!” You asked, bringing your hands to your face and intertwining your fingers as you grinned.
“Yes, of course. Ariella (Y/L/N) will soon be Ariella Kirk.” The realization dawned on Leonard’s face as you squealed and jumped excitedly. Jim laughed at your antics before turning back to McCoy. “Bones?” The man in question was over in the corner of his office pouring himself a drink, and he grunted in response. “I trust I’m no longer needed for any disciplinary reasons?” Jim could barely keep a straight face, and you began to feel bad for the poor doctor. Leonard just grunted again and nodded once before downing the bourbon in his glass. “Well then in that case, I’ll leave you two alone. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.” He winked at you, and you turned to shove him out the door playfully.
“Don’t be mean, Kirk.” You said as the door shut. You took a deep breath before turning back to address the elephant in the room. Leonard was still facing away from you as you approached his desk. “So Doctor McCoy-“
“Leonard.”
“What?”
“Just- Leonard. If you call me doctor one more time I’m liable to lose my mind.” You blinked in confusion but decided to let it slide for the moment.
“Alright. Leonard.” You hesitated for a moment, wondering if you were gonna push things too far but finally just decided to take the leap. “Would you join me for dinner?” Leonard spun on a dime, his eyebrows raised in incredulity.
“I haven’t even apologized for being an idiot and you’re still askin me to dinner?” He said almost like you’d just asked him to give you his children. You blinked and raised an eyebrow in confusion.
“Okay first and foremost, you’re not an idiot. Might be a bit of a dork, but not unintelligent. Secondly, has my nonstop flirting somehow not made it abundantly clear that I like you? Why wouldn’t I ask you out?” Leonard just stared at you for a moment.
“You’re really serious? Ain’t a joke?” You rolled your eyes and nodded.
“Yes Leonard McCoy I want to have dinner with you. As a date. Right now.” You said. For what felt like an eternity, Leonard just stood there staring at you. You began to second guess yourself and cleared your throat. “You don’t have to if you don’t want to of course-” That seemed to snap him out of his thoughts, and he cut you off.
“Sweetheart I’d have to be out of my mind to not want to have dinner with someone as gorgeous as you.” He drawled. You could feel a blush form, and though you tried to hide it, the slight smirk on his lips showed he’d noticed it too.
“Is that a yes then?” You asked. Leonard looked at the Chron before stepping around the desk and gesturing for you to lead the way.
My daughter is bucking the trend in her art class. Instead of recreating a famous painting on a ceiling tile she is sketching a portrait of her dad. She lost him on August 3, 2019 to a heart attack.
I love asking people how their parents met. You always get an interesting reply. My best friend’s parents met on the relatively new internet in 1999. My other friend’s parents met at Burger King when one was the manager and the other was a regular customer. My parents met at the beach because they were neighbors in their rental houses, mom was on a church trip and dad was getting blackout drunk every night with his friends next door.
