Some asshole said Honda didn't invent vtec. This is what I had to say.
“you do realize that honda did infact develop vtec right? It started in the early 1980’s and had nothing to do with cars themself, it actually started with their motorcycle division where the company developed what was know by their engineer’s as REV, or Hyper Vtec to everyone else. Rev allowed for a single intake or exhaust valve for each cylinder to remain idle until more power was needed. In 1984 I think was when Honda launched something called the NCE project, but im sure you wouldn’t know, but that’s (new concept engine) project. That convinced Honda that developing some sort of multiple cam profile was an amazing idea. It was first in the nsx but Honda fans didn’t appreciate it until 1992 in the Integra gsr. That’s when Honda released it’s SOHC VTEC D series. But nothing really changed small car performance like their twin cam vtec did. You should also know by the mid 90’s Honda had the sport compact segment by the fucking balls following the little ol del sol with a b16a3, their Integra b18c1, and the prelude h22a1. All with vtec. Btw it took a few years after that before other manufacturers followed by offering some sort of variable valve timing technology in their own line ups. For example: Mitsubishi uses "mivec”, Ford uses “duratec”, Toyota/Lexus uses “vvti” How do you like me now?“
