I recently went to Las Vegas for the first time. Naturally, I packed my extensive sequined wardrobe because every girl needs to sparkle in Sin City. In addition, though, I also made sure to bring what I call “fake it, don’t bake it” skincare products. As a beauty girl living in New York, trying to avoid sun damage, I slather on sunscreen even if I’m staying inside watching a Law & Order marathon. My couch may be comfy, but it also sits close to a window and the harmful rays from which I need protection. In order for my skin to keep up with glittery Vegas garb, I made sure to pack Brit’s bicoastal glow kit:
I’m currently loving the skincare brand Otavea, whose body scrubs are handcrafted in Austin, Texas from natural, vegan ingredients and are never tested on animals (score!!). My fave is the strawberry scrub which brims with anti-oxidants that hydrate and smooth damaged skin, creating the perfect canvas for a healthy (faux) tan. #OtaveaGirl
Basically the entire Jergens Natural Glow line rocks. Not only are the products affordable, but they are lightly scented to reduce that tanning bed stench often associated with self tanners. Natural Glow is pretty full proof, since the formula is streak free and doesn’t rub off on clothes, not even vacation whites!
Becca Luminous Body Perfecting Mousse
Lately, I’ve been a fangirling over this brand’s skin illuminators, especially the Palm Beach bronzing mousse. This perfecting body makeup glides on like lotion which allows it to layer well, deepening the tan with every coat. So, while your friends might get “good color” laying out on vacation, you’ll be a Becca bronzed goddess, sans sun damage, which is truly the only healthy color. #BeccaBeauties
Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer
Full disclosure…I have problem skin and can’t use this luscious product. That said, my model friends without sensitized skin like mine adore this supple bronzer. The formula is solid enough to pass airport security, yet, creamy enough to apply like a liquid. The tropical compact is kitschy and includes a useful mirror and a fun, turquoise applicator.
Urban Decay Naked Lip Gloss
What better place to go nude than in Sin City? Urban Decay’s Naked collection is one of my everyday beauty staples. Even the Naked namesake lip gloss seems perfectly appropriate among Vegas libations and general decadence. With a flirtatious shine and whisper of color, this gloss expertly finishes a glowing look.
Marc Anthony Conditioning Treatment
I’m kind of crazy when it comes to vacation hair or, in my case, wild Monica Gellar in Barbados curls! Instead of allowing the sun, chlorine or saltwater to damage my mane, I use this off-duty time to strengthen my tresses. Before hitting the beach or pool, I like to slather a conditioning mask through my hair, focusing on the ends. I keep the mask on all day, leaving my hair shiny and strong when I rinse it off. There’s even a bonus; the product’s small pouch is a perfect TSA approved carry on toiletry!
