Summer time faux glow tips!
Hi everyone…well here we are half way through summer and half way to Christmas I might add! I hope you are all staying cool and enjoying the longer days that summer brings. We have been in a relentless heatwave here in LA and I am trying to survive it! I am not a sun worshiper at all. Coca-Cola, Instant Coffee, and Other Bizarre Self-Tanner Hacks
We were reminded of the bizarre world of DIY beauty hacks when MTV U.K. reported that British reality stars Charlotte Crosby and Chloe Ferry were rubbing Coca-Cola onto their bodies while sunbathing to achieve a deep bronze glow.

FYI: Using Coke as a self-tanning hack isn’t a new trend. However, we find it pretty hard to believe that the soft drink alone yielded the type of faux tan results we see in the ladies’ bikini-clad Instagram photo above. If it did, we’d bet that behind those smiles and sunnies, they’re hiding the fact that they feel super sweaty and sticky.
We have yet to discover any research that proves self-tanning with Coca-Cola is free from danger or that it actually works. Plus, there are other products on the market — from Sally Hansen Airbrush Sun Instant Tanning Mousse to James Read Self Tan Instant Bronzing Mist — that will get the job done.
If you thought getting your faux glow on with Coca-Cola was strange, read on for more bizarre self-tanner hacks. Tell us in the comments section if you’ve tried any of these DIY methods.
Cocoa Powder
We prefer our cocoa powder in a milkshake, but YouTube vlogger Nicole Juliana got really crafty with some Nestle Toll House cocoa, Victoria’s Secret Dreamy Vanilla body cream, and a stippling makeup brush.
Instant Coffee
Beauty and lifestyle blogger Ioanna Lampropoulou mixes instant coffee with body lotion into a rich self-tanner concoction that she smoothes onto her exfoliated legs for a shockingly golden glow.
Black Tea Bags
Chances are your grandmother knows all about “tanning” with tea bags. Women would soak in the tub using this old-fashioned technique to achieve a bronzy complexion, according to celebrity dermatologist Tabasum Mir.

PRODUCT REVIEW
If you know me, you know that I am addicted to the sunshine. I live in the Sunshine State - so what else do you expect?! Something about the Vitamin D and its afterglow brings such glimmering happiness to my life!
I know it's not the best idea to live in the tanning beds and with a busy schedule, it is sometimes hard to find the time to relax by the pool or beach. My friends often ask me for recommendations on good faux tanning lotions. In the past, i have always recommended the L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Self Tanner to my curious pals. However, as I delve deeper into my yoga lifestyle, I realize that my body has become more sensitive to ingredients that are not natural!
I decided that I owe it to my friends to find a healthier, alternative product that will still make us feel like the bronze goddesses that we are!

I have just received this bottle of True Natural brand self tanning lotion in the mail and here are my findings:
1. The lotion is very moisturizing. I don't wake up the next day with a "chemical residue" feeling on my body like I do with most other lotions. It is definitely gentler on the skin.
2. The color does look natural. It is NOT orange or streaky.
3. I ordered MEDIUM tone and it worked well but I will definitely be ordering the DARK tone next time as I was hoping for more dramatic results.
4. The bottle is fairly small for the price paid BUT I am ok with that knowing that I am treating my body to all natural, vegan ingredients.
5. Will I ever go back to slathering myself in shimmering chemicals again? Perhaps, in a pinch, if there is a special occasion where I must look like I just returned from the islands. But for everyday maintenance and continued use, I will certainly keep using True Natural. It feels good to be healthy!

What kind of faux tanning products do you use? I'd love some more recommendations !
Sunshine State, Florida
I'm going to give self tanning a shot for the first time today. I'm nervous but pretty excited to see the outcome. If you don't know already, I'm extremely fair with pretty dark features (eyes, hair, eyebrows, etc.). So I can often times come off looking a bit severe in my own opinion. It's the Italian and Swedish genes mixed in me. I love my pale vampire skin, but I'm just going to try something new for a little while. I'll be using Tarte's "Brazilliance" self tanner and I'll be hopefully posting some pretty sweet before and after pictures tomorrow. :3
Any tips?
