K, yes, we do. But from a surface level conversation/description, it is nearly impossible for someone who is not diagnosed to actually believe they have the same disorder. Yes, it is entirely possible to realize that your symptoms are shared by diagnosed people, but you should get diagnosed. I only say this because society’s increasing knowledge of mental health disorders has not actually decreased stigma around the issue in impactful ways. [IN MY OPINION]. Just because something sounds familiar does not give you the right to determine you indeed have a shared understanding/experience with the diagnosed person.
