Dae held a hand over his heart, a swelling there that made him feel dozens of pounds lighter. He was so thankful to have his sister in his life, because she knew how to help him through some tough times and still do it with so much love. “Thanks,” he replied with a shy grin. “Did you get a new license at least? Or a temporary one? You don’t want to get caught driving without one, sis. That will just mean more trouble for you.” He laughed and nodded, tilting his head at Brittany. “Yeah, I was going to stay in but Mom and Dad helped me find the courage to get my butt off the couch and out the door. I did see Leah, and a few other friends. So, I had a nice time. My favorite was dancing with you, though. That was fun. What did you do at midnight? I gave Skye a New Year’s Kiss, and then Dad was twirling Mom around which was cute until she lost the back of her earring and she got a bit mad at him.” 

Brittany smiled at Dae before answering “You’re right, you’re right - even though I think I’m an excellent driver and therefor I wouldn’t get pulled over but yes, I got a temporary one, and is waiting for the real one.. or the actual one, you know”, she said, not really understanding the difference between the temporary one and actual one. “I’m so glad you did! My favorite part was definitely spending time with you as well, but that’s because you are the greatest of company”, Brittany said with a little shrug, as if it was obvious. “I enjoyed Everett’s company”, she said with a smirk, before breaking into a laughter “Oh I would’ve loved to see mom and dad dance around the living room, that sounds absolutely adorable.. besides the being mad part”. While Brittany was talking, the waitress came to their table with their orders, and Brittany smiled widely at her and said thanks, as the food and beverage was put in front of her.

Dae covered his mouth and giggled, “I’m glad you also love anxious Dae too because he makes an appearance pretty often… so does sweet tooth Dae, but besides the point.” He smiled sweetly, then face palmed fondly at his sister and snorted. “Oh gosh, Brit… you would forget something like that. But, I’m sorry about your license. I’ll look out for anyone pretending to be you.” He winked back. “I’m glad I got out for a bit on New Year’s Eve, but nothing that crazy happened to me.”

With a warm smile Brittany lifted her eyebrows before replying “Well I am here to hug and love anxious Dae as well as share tons of candy and sweets with sweet tooth Dae - which is obviously another favorite Dae of mine”. Brittany laughed as Dae talked. “I couldn’t figure out where I would’ve put it or lost it, if I had worn one, so I must’ve simply not have had one on”, she said with a shrug. “Thanks Dae, I’m sure they’re going to have the hardest time trying to impersonate me”, she said before laughing harder at Dae’s remark of being responsible and grown up. Brittany felt like she learned something new each year, and with her age she did feel... sort of grown up? But still definitely not as much as society would like for her to. “I was as glad as Skye is when you fill up his food bucket or as Tubs is when he finds out where I’ve hidden his cigarettes, that you went out for New Year’s! Did you end up finding Leah?” Brittany asked, before doing a little side-way smile. “I did end up having a crazy good time when the clock hit midnight”.

I can imagine. When are you expecting her to join you? I’m doing pretty good if I had to say so - I mean I’m just keeping busy with the usual. Job, family, friends (with and without fur), practising interests, reading up on scientology, sleeping a lot and, yeah, just keeping busy being britt.

That’s so a deal! Good making business with you Justin, can’t wait for us to become sorcerers. Well, he’s still ignoring me so I do practise reading his mind - it’s just not as good a form of communication as talking. Or maybe I’m just better at speaking than I am at reading minds in generel.

That definitely wouldn’t be karma I don’t think, not with an evening like that. Did you ever find your license or is it still MIA? That’s really good at least though, and it gives you something to look forward to again at the end of the year. Plus Valentine’s isn’t that far off. It’s been okay, I don’t know about any new adventures yet but things are pretty good.

Right? No I haven’t found it yet even though it feels like I’ve turned every single stone in Castlewood looking for it, but I’ve spread the word around so while I wait for a new one to arrive I’m just going to see if anyone tries to impersonate me and someone catches the potential thief. Yeah exactly, I know it’s going to be a magic year - I mean we’re living in the future, and the future is always better than the past. Uh, that’s a good point - I do love love and Valentine’s! Are you excited? Well I’m sure the adventures will find you!

Oh yeah that is true. With this fierce and fabulous identity they could do all sorts of fun things, and though I understand the appeal of trying to buy alcohol or get a party on, I’d prefer they didn’t do it with my name. Exactly! Well I realized.. underwear is kind of overrated, so I might have not even worn a bra.

Dae listened to his sister, nodding softly as he glanced down at the table. He knew he needed to hear all of this, even though it was hard at times. It was hard to admit that the thoughts he had sometimes were indeed toxic and should be pushed aside. He took Brittany’s hand, an exhale escaping as he nodded once more. “Yeah, I know. Thanks, sissy. You always help me focus on those things. That’s for sure. I don’t know what I would do without you, you know. You always know how to make me a happy Dae again,” he said with a giggle. “Mmm… I can’t wait to eat.” He snorted, shaking his head. “By the way, did you ever find your I.D. and your bra? I never got an update on that whole situation…” 

Brittany tilted her head with a smile, feeling her heart almost burst with love for her brother sitting in front of her. “I love both happy Dae and all the other moods Dae”, she said, before adding “And likewise”. Britany laughed as he asked about her lost items. “Well, turns out I wasn’t really sure I even wore a bra on New Year’s... And I still haven’t found or located my I.D, but now I know all of our friends have an eye out for any potential Brittany impersonators and I’m also getting a new one soon because I’m so responsible and grown up”, she said with a little wink.

By the way, I told Dae there should be a piece on him and his passion for sign language in the paper. Thoughts? I thought since it is your brother, you get first dibs. But he’s definitely an inspiration to others, so I think people should see that.

Thank you, I do love being praised. Well then it’s a good thing you succeed at so much else, like being a good colleague, friend and sharing your face with everyone. Uh I think that is such a great idea, both because sign language is cool and interesting, but also because.. It’s Dae. The piece can not not be great with him in it. Oh I don’t want to steal your ideas, so you should definitely do it - it would also be fun for me to see which parts of him and his passion you focus on.

I mean, they say you gotta keep things relevant if you want them to work. I imagine the same goes for your heart. Well, you definitely already know him– it’s Stevie. We’ve been flirting for forever though, so I guess it’s not a big shock.

An extra sprinkle of Britt is always needed. It provides some extra magic! Maybe we can grab coffee soon and do that? And that’s definitely the way it should be. You got this. And you deserve someone as awesome as you are. A class might be fun, actually. I feel like if I do the latter I’ll just end up stuffing my face and learning nothing. 

That’s true, I mean I like to eat candy before going to bed and that is a bad habit as well. Uuh Stevie? That’s so awesome Sky! And the fact that you’ve flirted for forever - which is a heck of a long time - just makes it even more special I imagine? Youøre both super awesome so he’s a lucky guy! He he, I do what I can to spread the magic. Coffee sounds lovely - I drink it in liters every day, so just say the word. Thanks Sky - I know there’s plenty of people (almost) as awesome as me, they’re just hiding or busy with something else right now.

Dae grinned as he listened to Brittany, giggling softly. “Strawberry milkshakes are yummy, and it makes sense for you to get because of how colorful it is. I think if you need to eat dinner then you should get both, but if you ate already and just want a snack then get a bunch of fries. If I don’t finish all my fries, you can have them. You know when a lot comes with my food I can’t finish.” He was about to answer his sister again when a waitress came to take their order, and he politely asked for his after Brittany went first. “Thank you so much,” he said right before she walked away. He looked back to Brittany and tilted his head, giving a small shrug. “I just wanted to get out for a bit, and clear my mind. I was getting too caught up thinking about him and I didn’t want to be in that mindset anymore. I want to focus on who I still have in my life for me. I assume he does the same, so I don’t want to stay stuck in the past… it’s just hard sometimes.”

Brittany smiled and did a little hair flip as Dae called her colorful, a descriptive term she really loved being called, as it was filled with such positive connotations in her opinion. “Yay”, she replied as Dae promised her his potential leftovers. Brittany smiled at the waitress as she left their table before turning to eyes back at Dae. Brittany nodded at his words, reflecting on what he was saying. “That makes sense. I know it must be really scary to be caught in your thoughts if they are negative. Sometimes I think we have to feel all those negative and scary thoughts, but other times, like now, it’s also a really good thing to be able to surround yourself with good people and good things, so you get distracted and focus on love and happiness” Brittany said, reaching for her brothers hand, before adding “.. and fries, shakes and burgers - of course!”. She gave his hand a little squeeze. “Life ultimately becomes better with food and love”.

It’s not so much about moving furniture and decorating. To me, it’s all about love. Maybe it sounds corny but I want to make sure the room is as welcoming and comfortable as possible for her.

Dae smiled at Brittany’s greeting, his heart instantly lighter just by being with her. He could count on her to cheer him up, no matter what he was going through. “Hi best sissy,” he replied sweetly. “I know, we love to eat, especially sweets. I want a burger and a vanilla milkshake… and fries. That sounds like the best thing in the world, I’m not even being dramatic.” His eyes squinted while he let out a laugh. He looked to Britt after he pushed his menu aside, as he knew what he wanted. “Thanks for meeting me… I just needed to get out and clear my mind. This will definitely help. Hopefully your bed won’t miss you too much.” 

Brittany reciprocated his smile as he greeted her. “That sounds delicious. Well I’m definitely going to get a strawberry milkshake, but I’m debating whether I should just get tons of fries or fries and a burger”, Brittany said, moving her hand to her chin to mimic a thinking movement, before taking the menu and studying it, though she felt like she already knew what it said. Brittany looked up from it as Dae spoke, and she smiled at him. “Well I’m sure my bed is missing me a lot, but it’ll just have to deal with it”, she said with a shrug before continuing “Of course, I understand that feeling.. Was there something specific you wanted to talk about?”, she asked, before a waitress came to their table asking if they were ready to order, and Brittany ended up ordering a shake and two large portions of fries with a thankful smile, before looking to her brother.

Dae needed some time with his sister, since it always helped him when he was feeling uneasy. He couldn’t deal with the online dating world anymore, or think about dating in general. He just wanted to stuff his face and talk to his favorite person. Since it was cold, he wore a mustard colored beanie and scarf with his outfit. He had on a pair of his skinny jeans and black combat boots, along with a warm navy coat. He also wore a pair of his glasses, since contacts were also off his list of things he was going to worry about. When he saw his sister sitting inside Shake Shack, he offered a wave in her direction and sat down. “Hey,” he said softly. He pulled his scarf and satchel bag off to set on the booth seat beside him. “Thanks for meeting me. I appreciate it. I need to eat something, I’m so hungry.”

Brittany lit up when Dae caught her eye and she excitedly offered a little wave in return. “Hey best brother in the world”, she said with a little shoulder-movement, wanting to make him smile. She watched him as he sat down with her, and let go of a little chuckle as Dae said he was hungry. “Well I can always eat, and it’s so much more fun with you around sooo”, she said smiling at her brother. “I also felt like my bed was eating me whole and I was about to become one with it, if I hadn’t left, so I’m very glad you wanted to hang out”.

Brittany had spent the last hour or so in her bed with the company of Lord Tubs, so she was really glad Dae and her had made plans to meet up so she had something more interesting to do. After having sent her last text to Dae and gotten up from her bed, she looked at herself, put on some lip balm and did her hair in a high pony, before putting on her coat and heading outside. The weather was chilly out but it freshened the blonde up. Brittany thought of what Dae had texted her about him getting panicky, and she hoped her company would make his mood better. She found her phone in her purse to send Dae a text, saying she was on her way and making sure to add some extra hearts to the message. It didn’t take long before she arrived at the Shack. She went inside and looked around to see if Dae was there already, but he wasn’t, so she found a table and got comfortable while waiting for her brother.
