annicagdi:
it had been a slow day at the starry prophesier. so slow, that she was the only person in the little shop. the streets had been nearly empty since the cold moon festival, and annica could only assume it was because they had heard of a werewolf attack. any sane person would stay inside after hearing that rumor. however, annica had convinced herself that coming to work and staying out for a little while would be good for her. she hadn’t slept in her flat since that night – she was afraid to be alone. even if she was lying awake on micah’s couch while he slept in his room, she felt more comfortable. the starry prophesier was her second home, a place where she could practice what she was good at (despite alexei’s comments). nose deep in a mug of dry tea leaves, glasses perched precariously on her nose and eyes squinted tight to see the designs, annica wasn’t exactly prepared for the bell above the door to jingle, alerting her of a patron. startled, the female gasped and dropped the tea cup in her hand. it fell to the wood floor, along with her glasses. thankfully, only the cup broke. “bloody hell! i’m sorry, i wasn’t paying much attention. you gave me quite a fright. you here for a reading, or just to mingle with the only employee on duty?” she quipped with a smirk, before enchanting a broom and dust pan to come sweep up the mess.
briar hadn’t really seen or talked to anyone at much length since the cold moon festival--most everyone had holed themselves up safely in their homes upon hearing of the attack. the forbidden forest was incredibly far away from london, nearly the entire length of great britain, but werewolves were wizards and witches, too. presumably they could apparate when back in human form. or she figured that was the logical conclusion everyone had come to. mostly she didn’t particularly care. why should she hide herself away? the next full moon was weeks away and she could easily best a simple witch or wizard even on her worst day, so she went on with her life and let the meek and cowardly stay meek and cowardly. there happened to be a few people, however, who she cared enough to seek out--annica being one of them. she entered the starry prophesier in the later afternoon, a normally busy time for the shop, and found only the woman in question inside. good. things were better that way, anyway. “sorry to scare you, dear,” she flashed her own playful smirk back, “and i’m sorry to disappoint, but i’m just here to mingle today. i don’t need my future told just yet.”
