I want a love like the love I hold for the sea. I want someone who won't get tired of me even though they see me everyday.

Someone who, when they are far away, will think of my laughter as I think of the waves crashing the rocks, and I'd think of their smiles like I think of the sun, setting on the ocean. I'd think of their presence as I think of the warm sea breeze in my hair, not always there, but always loved. I'd think of their touch as I think of the waves washing away the sand between my toes. I'd think of them when they're far away, and while I could survive without them, I'd think of how it sure would be better to be by the seaside right now❤️

And while I know this might not mean much to most people.. I hope you understand what I mean when I say, I'd gladly shut my favourite book to spend more time with you.

I started with the eyes, sketching out the lines that have been stuck in my mind for weeks. My hand tracing every wrinkle, every crinkle, every curve that my eyes spent hours memorizing, and my mind spent hours trying to forget.

I imagine what its be like to be kissing you, sometimes,

I imagine it would feel like swimming,

Breathless and frantic, but also: careful, rhythmic.

The need for air, overwhelming,

But the feel of your lips on mine: Blissful as my head, underwater.

And inevitably breaking out for air,

A quick gasp, inhale all I can, before diving right back,

Into YOU.

And back underwater, my mind blank but for the 100 shades of blue,

Or back on your lips, mind filled with the 1000 shades of YOU.

And I think of how I realized, after meeting you,

That I'm not beneath writing love poems after all.

I could compare you to the water I love to drown in,

Or the air I breathe to survive.

But poetry's got nothing on you,

Because doesn't loving you feel like swimming too?

I used to be into the dark and mysterious type of person,

The secrets they keep were just gaps for my fantasies to fill,

In my head, I'd make them into the perfect person,

And I'd fall in love, slowly.

There was no room for imperfection,

In my head, they were patient, and kind,

And their words were poetry,

And their hands were magic.

In my head, they were the cure to every ailment,

The glue to every broken glass,

The stitches to mend my broken heart.

I used to be into this dark and mysterious person,

Who was just a face,

To bring alive the fantasies in my head.

We never said hello,

Our greetings were waves and handshakes,

And sometimes hugs and kisses,

They were just you and me, side by side,

Just knowing we were there.

And we never said goodbyes, or see you laters,

All I knew was when you left,

You'd always come back.

UNTIL YOU DIDN'T.

And we never said I love you,

It was you and me,

On a Sunday afternoon,

On the phone for hours,

Just because.

And there were so many things to be said.

But we never said them,

'Cause it was you and me,

So we could always read,

All the words we never said.

We were warriors without swords,

Our only weapons were our words,

We fought this war between the worlds,

Of our hearts, our minds, and our bones,

Trying to prove our worth,

To them, who destroyed our homes,

And walked on our hopes,

But now the stars,

They tell us we can stop,

They tell us, we tireless warriors,

Who still fight with the only weapon we know,

Our words.

She'd heard it once,

Or a million times,

The story of,

The princess who,

Was locked up in a tower;

And the handsome boy,

With his cheeky smile,

Who swooped right in,

And broke her chains,

And rescued her;

But what of when,

The handsome boy,

He took her home,

To white picket fences,

And kept her there;

So she wonders now,

That who will come,

And who will save,

This princess from,

This beast's lair;

The house, his house,

Her new tower,

It kept her in,

As she wallowed in,

Her own despair;

And her bangles weighed,

Heavily on her wrists,

But pushing her down,

And holding her back,

Were new chains on her neck- her Mehar..

A/N: for anyone wondering, I'm Indian, and I hail from a Muslim family, so Mehar is equivalent to a wedding band for us, it's a necklace that the bride is given on her wedding day.

I see the way she looks at HIM, (In Love)

See her smile when she talks about him, (It's Joy)

See her eyes move to HIM in a crowd, (Like she can't help it)

I see this, because SHE doesn't see..

See the way I look at HER, (In Longing)

See my smile when I talk about HER (It's Bittersweet)

See my eyes mover to Her in a crowd. (Like I can't help it)

I learnt to complement people, after I unconsciously began to complement you.

I learnt to voice out loud, "I love that dress."

After I said it to you without realizing it, thinking about how pretty you looked in that little black dress.

I learnt to say, "I like your smile."

When it slipped my mouth, thinking of how much I adore yours.

I learnt to say, "I love your mind, and everything that comes out of it."

But only in the chaos of my mind.

I learnt to say, "I love you."

But only in the dark caverns of my heart,

and in the silence of the night with no one to hear me,

and in the corners of little papers,

and always, always, in my poems about you <3

You were the first person I liked,

Really liked.

You were never an idea,

Or a fantasy I made of the person you might turn out to be

if I could get closer to you..

You were real,

You were just... YOU.

A person. REAL. SO REAL.

You're imperfect,

and you sometimes say near perfect things,

And you'd stumble and fall,

and still, somehow, managed to capture my heart.

And it's alright..

I've let you go from my heart, my love.

But my poetry holds onto you like lifeline, my muse.

Falling in love with her, wasn't a conscious choice for me. If that sounds stupid, and made up and like I'm trying to make excuses for the predicament I currently find myself in (due to nobody's fault but my own), then I have nothing to say to you. Because for me, falling in love was never something I wanted to do. So, no, it wasn't a conscious choice. And the truth is, if I could've gotten rid of the feelings I had for her, I would've, the moment it started to sprout. I never watered that seed, I never fertilized it, or made sure it got enough sunlight. In fact I tried my BEST to weed it out, to deprive it of water, to hide in a shed in the back of my mind and make sure it never saw the light of day. But the thought dug its root deep, held itself there, and found its own water hidden deep inside. Its neck elongated to the window I never knew existed, and before I knew it, it was facing the sun like a sunflower, peeking out from the window. The plant had already grown. I was the coward that left it in there too long, but eventually, I had to face it. And so, that's what I did. I love her. She doesn't feel the same way, but that's okay.

Filled with awe and a little bit of dread,

Onwards we go,

And into this amazing world we grow,

Some curses are enchanting in the beginning,

Ask Midas, even with his golden touch,

If he ever felt like he was the one winning!

He'll tell you of his daughter,

And his abominable donkey ears.

Ask Achilles, whose 'blessing' meant to protect him,

Became the very cause of his death,

Ask Medusa, whose beauty captivated poseidon,

Wasn't she made to be the monster in the end?

Ask Cassandra, who was given the power of prophecy,

Only for no one to believe her.

Oh yes, some curses are enchanting in the beginning.
