deleted scene from batman vs superman, starring jimmy kimmel. ( x )
But his EYES. Watch Jesse Eisenberg’s fucking eyes, especially in that first GIF. Watch how they’re flitting around and at the same time, very intentional and focused on their movements, like he’s WATCHING something that isn’t there.
In that moment, Lex isn’t even completely talking to Clark anymore. He’s completely immersed in the memory he’s recounting, because that’s what happens to victims of abuse. They relive it and become consumed by it like they are in it again - they have moments of completely detaching from the world around them and being sucked back in to the world of pain and fear they come from and can’t get away from.
Look at how Lex looks almost PAINED trying to speak directly to Clark again in the second GIF, because it means having to pull himself OUT of something that has such a hold on him and back into this important moment.
Like, I can’t even begin to tell you how real this moment in the movie was for me - how real this version of Lex Luthor felt when watching it. Because I’ve seen people get caught up in their trauma and their memories JUST LIKE THIS, and a few sparkling gems on Jesse Eisenberg’s part made his acting strike the same emotional chord as the real thing.
