“Exactly, that’s always nice.” Nico agreed, then grinned. “Well, I had to get back to make sure someone’s playing some decent music, right?”

“It was definitely lacking a certain taste while you were gone,” She listened to the radio at work - wasn’t much else to do most days.

“Sorry. Force of habit.” Sean apologised quickly, tapping the skateboard lightly with his foot.“You’ll be fine, if it looks like you might fall I’ll stop it and be a human crash mat.” He assured with a smile. “C'mon, I’ll start you off.” He offered, holding his hands out.

Alice shrugged, accepting the apology noncommittally. “Alright...” She winced hesitantly, but took his hands and unsteadily stepped onto the skateboard. This was such a bad idea, she was definitely going to fall.

Alice scoffed, “Okay, first, don’t call me dudette.” She paused, staring at the skateboard, “Second, I will probably kill myself if I get on that thing.”

“No, actually, I do. I don’t think you quite understand how this works, so I’ll tell you. I mean, you know me, I’m so great at talking. But here it is. I’m funny and I tell jokes so I don’t have to think about the bad things. Lily knew that. I think that’s why sometimes she just let me do it. Most of the time she threw stuff at me if it got bad, but she let me talk because she knew that if I didn’t, I’d think. She’s the thinker, not me. And I really, really don’t want to think about this. So yes, dead bodies, ha ha.”

“I know why you tell jokes, Peter,” Alice sighed, reaching over to squeeze his arm, “This is one of those things you might have to think about eventually.” She frowned, tilting her head. She knew just how much it hurt once you had to actually think about it. And how much it hurt each day afterwards.

Nico laughed. “Well, no. but it was still super fun. My brother, uh, brings things into base for people and took me out with him this time. Guess it tunred out for the best, right?” He said, a bit of forced cheer in his voice. “I mean, I got away from all of this.”

“Yeah, you were safe from all the crap going on in here, that’s for sure.” She sighed. Alice smiled slightly, “Glad to see my favourite radio guy back safe and sound, though.”
