New Website and COVID-19 Update!
We’re not really using this tumblr anymore. Go check out the new standalone website at BrooklynDrawJam.com. Also, we are on hiatus due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. We met online April-July 2020, but now we’re just waiting til it’s safe to meet up in person again.

Announcing Holiday Bizarre 2017! ⛄️
Shoestring and Brooklyn Draw Jam are pleased to present the second annual Holiday Bizarre! The Bizarre is a marketplace of cool and weird small-run or handmade goods, with emphasis on printed/paper goods (prints, comics, zines, textiles, original artwork, etc.).
It will take place on December 10th from 1pm-7pm at Shoestring Press and Shoestring Studio, 640 and 663 Classon Avenue (between Bergen and Dean in Crown Heights, Brooklyn). Admission is free for shoppers.
There may also be food, drink, a bonfire, and related merriment, but mostly it’s a zine fest/affordable art fair/craft fair.
Want to be a vendor? Fill out the vendor application by November 10.
PaperJazz Exhibitor #14 Brooklyn Draw Jam featuring Jason Das, Brian Elig and Jess Worby
The Brooklyn Draw Jam is a monthly event where anyone can come draw and hang out. It is a little different from your average drink-and-draw. Jammers engage in spontaneous collaborative drawings like jam-comics, exquisite corpses, and drawing games.
BDJ is held on the first Monday of each month at Shoestring Studio (640 Classon Ave. in Crown Heights), the sister space of Shoestring Press. We are closely affiliated with the Shoestring community: the Press is a fantastic screen-print shop and art-space and the Studio is an amazing fine-arts center for drawing and painting! We suggest a $5 donation to help keep the jams going.

On exhibit will be the Brooklyn Draw Jam Anthology, Horrible Garfield and a plethora of zines and prints from the artists.

Brooklyn Draw Jam will be at Northside Festival’s Block Party–formerly known as Williamsburg Walks–on Bedford Ave. this weekend! Wall mural between N. 3rd and N. 4th Saturday, open drawing table between N. 9th and N. 10th Sunday!

Brooklyn Draw Jam at MoCCA Fest!
BROOKLYN DRAW JAM, repped here by cartoonist/illustrators Jess Worby, Gant Powell, Jason Das, Brian Elig and more, is a collaborative drawing free-for-all on first Mondays, 7-10 pm at Shoestring Studio (640 Classon Ave). Participants create jam comics and other drawing experiments. All are welcome to join. Initial sales go towards accumulated costs and helping Shoestring keep its doors opens as a print shop, gallery, and event space. Email [email protected] or look us up on Facebook.

Crown Heights and the surrounding Brooklyn neighborhoods have a huge, vibrant comics and illustration community. The Brooklyn Draw Jam has been a great way of bringing folks together, and now we’re throwing a festival to celebrate!!
