hearing about the third party verifying users losing interest and dipping sucks. i don’t blame them, i won’t speculate on why; i’m just lucky i got my verification day 1.
i really appreciate TT listing options for the stripe-verification that doesn’t cost-gate for users who otherwise can’t pay for a myriad for reasons (i’m in my mid 20s and i didn’t have a debit card until i was 22, as an example!)
i really like the option of other users who have disposable income maybe leaving some extra funds for users who might not be able to afford it, but that relies on users being charitable. i think ultimately the cut-the-line option might work best? we’ll see!
I'd def be willing to toss in some of my allowance in every few weeks! I know what it's like to not have the money. I was poor/near homeless for most of my 20s so like. I'm down with spreading the love even if it's for something as silly as verification on an RP site.
that’s genuinely so kind, i was homeless for a few months back in late 2019-early 2020 so i absolutely try to give into mutual aid funds when i can, and i guess that one option TT suggested is kind of like a mutual fund!
i definitely jumped the gun on my initial charity pessimism, i saw a lot more folks talking about adding to the fund than i thought! but i definitely like option 6 that was suggested of stripe for those who’d want to pay for a professional non-cherp team service, and free for those who don’t want to give their full ID/don’t give a shit/can’t pay for any variety of reasons
