it's also fucking evil for them to do this to older citizens who are so used to dealing with cash and cheques. not only does no-one have spare change anymore, but it is so hard to engage in a completely digital economy when you have no access to it, creating a whole other dependency with generations who aren't able to engage in cashless transactions. a whole other sense of autonomy stripped away, people who have lived and worked and grown as fully competent adults now requiring their offspring to pay for them as if they're children.
