Welcome to the page of one Rachel Barbra Berry! The often imitated but irreplaceable Broadway star. I am sure many of you will pretend you stumbled upon this page accidentally but one does not simply stumble onto the page of such an up and coming starlet and the actress bringing Natalie Goodman to life on stage every night in the hotly anticipated and hugely successful revival of Next To Normal. I therefore encourage you to embrace the meticulously detailed and perfectly laid out blog before you. I have recently been informed that there are some poor and unfortunate souls who are unaware of my existence and so I have decided to illuminate you with a short, yet informative life history of one Rachel Barbra Berry. I was born on the 18th of December 1991 to two wonderful fathers, Leroy and Hiram Berry, who made me from pure love. To this day I do not know who my true biological father is as they had both of their sperm artificially inseminated into a surrogate, selected from a vast pool of women as she was deemed most compatible based on height and beauty to produce their future star. I do not at this time have any contact with my surrogate nor do I have any means of reaching her. Questions regarding her will not be tolerated. Growing up my fathers fostered in me a love of all things music related, with me winning my first dance competition at the tender age of only three months. My fathers have always provided the best of the best for me and therefore I grew up on singing, dancing and acting classes. My fathers particularly fostered a love of Barbra Streisand in me, clearly an idol of theirs considering my middle name, and I consider her to be a symbol of what I hope to achieve in my own life. Whenever I am down I find great comfort in singing something from her expansive collection of work and reminding myself that one day I will have her success. Following on from my detour to spread my love of one Barbra Streisand I grew up, in, Boston, MA. Although one could argue that it was hardly a city with a complete dearth of artistic pursuits, it wasn't exactly the suitable place for a future voice of a generation and incandescently talented star. I like to think living in a world that lacked any true appreciation of the next Broadway starlet led me to only flourish more during my academic, and artistic training. I was a member of 18 extracurricular clubs and societies as you can see from my many school yearbook photographs, and these include Kwanza club and founded the GayLesball. My main extracurricular was Show Choir for whom I was once Captain and after a rather unfair demotion became Co-Captain. For the first year of my school career this club was in shambles under the shocking favouritism of one ex-teacher at this school. Although I deny all accusations that I was the one to get our first show choir coach fired, I maintain that this school is far better place without him. Following his replacement by Mr. Gallagher who, although he did have a rather unfortunate habit of taking away solos that were rightfully mine and a bizarre love of 80s rock, proved to be a more than capable leader to our small band of talent. Indeed in our very first year as a team we found success at Sectionals where I performed our opening number the Barbra classic Don't Rain On My Parade to much aplomb and fan fare. However, only during my Senior year did I finally achieve the recognition for my talents that I deserved in winning both the Nationals Championship, a spot at NYAPA and graduating with a 3.8 GPA. Ultimately, I left my purgatory with a rather astonishingly long list of achievements,as a Nationals champion, the lead in every school play and musical to occur during my four year sentence - including a rather intriguing gender swapped Hamlet - and as Valedictorian. I simply proved that even in the most mediocre of environments I shine above all others. It seemed only inevitable that I would tread the boards one day as the natural successor to Barbra's throne and the biggest Broadway diva ever! My path obviously led me to the bright lights, and my true home, New York City next and I have been ensconced in the city that never sleeps ever since. Although I had originally intended to make my name via the various performing arts institutions such as NYADA, Tisch or Julliard, I faced a rather tragic choking incident during a pivotal audition. I can assure you that this was my only mishap ever to occur during my glowing career thus far but it meant I arrived in New York as all true stunning young ingenues do: without any true sense of direction. It meant I was forced to work extremely hard, and I'm sure many of my devoted fans remember coming into Ellen's Stardust Cafe to be serenaded by Broadway's next biggest star. Just as the New Yorkers must have sensed Patti languishing away at the very same cafe, I became extremely popular and my rendition of Being Good, I'm The Greatest star and other Barbra classics were among the most requested and highest rated. I categorically deny that I was rejected to the face by any Tony winning producers, despite what any pernicious and slanderous gossip blogs may claim, and while it may have taken a little longer than I had originally planned, no-one can possibly deny that I am a star. We now come to the pinnacle of my life thus far, also known as the moment in which all my dreams came true and I became a Broadway Star. While I always envisioned my first role being one originated by my beloved idol Ms. Barbra Streisand, I was perhaps destined to revive a role originated by one of Broadway's more recent stars that being Jennifer Damiano and Natalie Goodman in the Tony award winning Next To Normal. The rave reviews regarding both my performance, and the entire show have more than proven both Next To Normal and my own rendition of Natalie to be the very best. I'm sure you will all still be desperate to listen to me serenade you with Superboy and the Invisible Girl so I suggest you attempt to secure your tickets immediately if you don't wish to face the crushing disappointment of missing a future Broadway legends's very first dip into stardom. I look forward to seeing you all at the stage door! On an always relevant note, don't be alarmed if I start blogging as Barbra for a while, it is all part of my preparations to become a star and she more than helps me get into whatever role I shall be playing. WWBSD. It's a way of life, dear fans, and one I truly do advocate. She is, and always will be, my biggest inspiration so when you see me on stage and view my incandescent talent as inspirational then acknowledge that, to borrow Audra's impeccable Tonys 2014 metaphor, I am standing on the shoulders of past, and present, fellow greats and you are more than welcome to one day attempt to reach my impending pinnacle of success. To my most loyal and dedicated groupies, I know many of you will now be wondering about my love life, and where all the men are who want to ‘tap’ this. Alas, I am going to have to let you down as the rumours are true and I am taken by the very handsome and talented Jesse St. James. Success may have found me a little later than I would have liked but with my flourishing fame came another kind of flourishing and I'll admit that I fell in love with one of the very people sharing a stage with me. He's very talented and I personally view it as one that will join the most famous stage relationships. We are Elizabeth and Dick during their very first show together and I can't wait to inspire so many people not only via my performance but also through our wonderful love story. Unfortunately, due to the strain of being a full time star, girlfriend, friend and celebrity, I have had to discontinue the daily element of my Daily Doses of Berry series made famous on MySpace during my years pre-fame. I still fully intend to share with my beloved fans small snippets of my talent wherever possible but obviously buying tickets to see me and hear my voice under our very own spotlight is your best and most advised option. Regardless, I bid you a final welcome to my blog and remind you as always fanmail is welcome at all times! Lots of love and stardust,
